We had the good fortune of connecting with Wesley Bloeme and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wesley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I honestly never intended to start a real business. I was just looking for a way to make some extra money while home for the Summer in between my Freshman and Sophomore year’s of college in 2014. One of my childhood best friends, Ryan Francis, and I already had part time jobs, but wanted to collaborate to earn extra income. I thought that pressure washing might be a good option for us to start because our customers wouldn’t need us when we went back to school until the next Summer. This was especially important because we both went to out of state colleges. It wasn’t until the end of that first Summer when I saw pressure washing as a legitimate way for me to pay for my college tuition. Ryan and I decided that I would take the next step of legitimizing the company on my own.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
WiseGuys Pro-Wash is one of the highest rated and fastest growing exterior cleaning companies in Atlanta, GA. After growing College Student Pressure Washing, LLC in order to pay for my college tuition, I decided to continue on with the business after graduating from Maryville College in 2017. One of the things that I am most proud of is that not only was I able to pay my entire college tuition myself without the need for student loans, but I was able to do so while being a student athlete and graduating with honors. Definitely has not been an easy journey, but I have tried to learn from others that have already done what I am trying to achieve. The big thing that separates us is the experience that we provide for our customers. All of our team members go through a third party background verification process, uniformed, certified, and are very friendly. Our technicians have the experience to get the job done right the first time and stand behind our work. I have learned a lot of lessons along the way, but the first is that you have to be the kind of person worth working for. There are a lot of great people out there especially millennials, but you have to treat all team members with respect and create an atmosphere and environment worth working for.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I think that my friends know me well enough to know that I would not be the guy that they would turn to for something like this. I am not one to go out and explore the city much just cause I still work an abnormal amount even on the weekends. But, my favorite spot in the city is Truist Park and the Battery. I would definitely take them to a game and get drinks afterward.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been a member of AGS Conquer for the last two years. AGS Conquer is considered one of the most elite 12 month business building programs in the world for home service professionals. Josh Latimer has been my coach since I have been in the program. I can honestly say that without his weekly coaching my company wouldn’t have grown as quickly as it has.
