We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Jaffar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
As a young girl, I was always a creative! As I grew up, I was around my dad who is a professional photographer and around others who had so many artistic talents. I loved to paint, draw and capture photographs so much in high school. Singing, dancing, poetry and acting were also apart of my list of creations that I loved! As I got older and more in the last few years, I took up photography more. Painting started more a few years ago. Last year, we all know Covid hit in March and I had to leave a internship in Cali to head home. I didn’t have a safe job back home for someone dealing with a chronic illness, so I decided to paint and do more photography. In June 2020, I decided to post more of my paintings and such. Friends and family started supporting my arts, then said that I should make more. I decided within myself why not make some money and put smiles on people’s faces while doing something I love! July 2020 came and my business became an official LLC. I decided to name her Passionate Expressions LLC because she is a passion of mine and love to be able to express myself to others through it! I started my business furthermore also because I would love to leave a beautiful legacy behind to my family one day! The world will know the name Passionate Expressions LLC and the lady who started it, Ana Jaffar!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud of myself for pushing hard to start this business because it’s not very easy! I’ve learned that a lot of people believe that in this time during covid that art is not a necessity. I can understand that, but most artist’s only income is their art and that’s the same with me! You have to continue to believe in yourself and your Art no matter what! If you don’t believe in yourself, why are you in business? I’ve been through failed pop ups, shows, cancelling shows due to illness and even customers cancelling after ordering custom art! You know what I did though? I never gave up and I don’t plan on giving up no matter how strenuous it may get! I’ve overcame so many challenges through prayer, God and the encouragement of everyone around me. My brother has told me that I’m his inspiration when it comes to painting because he also started painting! That statement from him made me want to keep going! I want the world to know that sometimes artists may make it look easy, but it’s not always! If you can support your artist friend/family, do it! You can like a post, share, comment, purchase a piece, schedule a shoot, spread the word, and so much more. You will be surprised what one post could do for them! I want everyone to continue to look out for Passionate Expressions LLC and know that I am pushing to the top!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In June 2021, one of my dear best friends Ashley did actually come to Atlanta to visit me and our other best friends Faith and Charlene! Faith and I met Ashley when we were both in Cali last for our internship! We had been planning this trip for months! We thought of different museums, restaurants and fun places to check out while she was here! It was for a week and even though we didn’t get to do everything due to me getting sick, it was fun! They went to the Georgia Aquarium, The Varsity and even the National Center for Human and Civil Rights! They all tried Pho for the first time and I took them all to the Ponce City Market. I’m not sure if it was for the first time for Charlene and Faith, but we had some phenomenal Ramen there! One more place that’s a staple that I took them to was The Flying Biscuit! We did a lot of driving around, so we did get to see the Capitol, showed her Ga State University and many other staples of Downtown Atlanta! Downtown Decatur was a big place I took them too also! We had many crazy experiences down there too, but so much fun! I would have loved to take them to more parks, restaurants, concerts and such, but of course with covid we wanted to be as safe as possible! In the future when she comes back, there will be more places we can visit like Breakfast at Barney’s, Atlanta Station, King Memorial, Edgewood, Krog Street Market, Falcons Games, Hawks Games, Atlanta United Games and a whole bucket list of places!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I want to Thank God! God gave me the strength, ability and will to start this business last year even though I no longer had a job! Without God, I don’t know where I would be! I definitely didn’t think I would be where I am at now! Next, I want to shout out my dear friends that have always supported me through this process! I’m not going to name each and every one of you because you know who you are! I want to shout out my dear parents and my brother for always supporting me! Thank you for taking me to shows, pop ups and even to the stores for supplies! Thank you for buying multiple paintings and even letting put paintings all over the living room to dry! I want to thank my dear mentor, Dane Brown! He was one of the first artist I met at my first show back in June 2020! He has been so helpful in my journey and continues to help me! I want to shout out another mentor/great role model of mine Mrs Felicia Seamon! She was the one who got me in my first Art show in June 2020! She has also been a bit of a mentor for me and has helped me through so much with my business!! I want to thank every person/business that follows me, likes posts, shares, buys a painting, books a shoot or simply comments!
