We had the good fortune of connecting with Valencia Holland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valencia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has changed over time because when I first started by business I was a single mom. Fast forward to today I’m now married with more children. Everyday I have to manage my time and prioritize what I do according to the needs in every area of my life not just business. I think balance looks different for everyone and you have to do what works best for you and your life.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own an Image consulting firm. Our mission is to help women love their body shape, learn how to dress their body shape, and build their personal and professional wardrobe. I believe this is what sets us apart. I’m proud of all the lives we have changed and will continue to change through our services. I’ve gotten to where I am today by believing in myself, not being afraid to put in the work, investing in myself and my business. It hasn’t always been easy but my passion for what I do has been what helps me keep going and never give up. I always tell people you have to be very passionate about what you do because this is what will help you overcome those hard times and challenges you face on this journey. Along the way I’ve learned that you have to have patience for yourself and trust the timing on everything. Don’t get so upset or down when things don’t go your way. You have to keep going. I’ve also learned that you can’t skip the work! We live in a microwave society and with social media people believe that things are suppose to happen overnight and this is not true. When people see me and/or my brand I want them to know I’m passionate about what I do as a Personal stylist and really enjoy helping others as well as be inspired to go after the things they want in their life be it personal, business, etc…
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I would take her to all of the popular restaurants in the city like Old Lady Gang, Slutty Vegan, Frost Bistro and more because who doesn’t love to eat. Depending on the season we would go to a sports outing like a Hawks game or even Atlanta United. We would visit Buckhead Village, The Forum on Peachtree Parkway, and The Mall of Georgia for shopping. I would take her to Little Five points, the Outkast mural, and the Jackson street bridge for some dope pics. There is so much to do in the City of Atlanta and surrounding areas but I believe this will cover a week. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to God. Without God I’m nothing and he has made all of my success possible. He’s blessed me with my gifts and talents, clients and customers, to the support of my husband, family, and friends. Everything I have is because of him and he gets all the credit!
