We had the good fortune of connecting with Tynia Johnson-Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tynia, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
My definition of success is personal soul level happiness. I’ve had the 6 figure income, a lot of degrees/certifications, and every other marker of social success and I was dying inside. My days were just void. Ultimately, my soul said it refused to live an unfulfilled life anymore. The following years I spent finding out who I was outside of the labels I adorned myself with. It’s there that I found who I truly was. I slowed down to what made my soul happy. So, if you reach that level where your soul smiles, and can be rested and at peace, you’ve found true success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
October 4th, 2014 I went to urgent care, and that’s where Golden Earth Botanics was born, in the moments I began seizing on the examination table. I went from literally running 5ks one day, to being unable to stand while brushing my teeth the very next day. The next few years were filled with medicine that didn’t work, medicine that did more harm than good, and doctors that just couldn’t help. During that journey I began to hack my own body to learn what works and what doesn’t. I dug deep into my spirirual journey and started to incorporate holistic approaches to my wellness. Medical cannabis was just legalized in Maryland but I was hesitant. I had never personally used it, as a veteran that also had clearances, it was something I couldn’t partake in. Since my illness prevented me from working traditionally, with my Doctors influence, I began using medical cannabis in conjunction with other holistic practices and started having dramatic shifts on my wellness. Golden Earth Botanics was born for those like me. Those who struggle in the traditional medical means of handling their chronic health. We often feel lost and unheard. Golden Earth Botanics allows you to curate your own healing experience and advocate not just for your physical health, but also your mental, emotional and spiritual health as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not familiar with places in Atlanta. If you would love for me to do this for my area, I can, and I will provide it to you. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I would like to thank my mom. She’s my best friend and has been with me through all iterations and evolutions of me, in full support. From my highs to the moments we believed I was dying (actually several moments in my life); her support never wavered. Even in the face of challenging her own beliefs, she held me in mine. I have had many mentors all throughout my life that’s helped me get a lot of success, but my mom is the backbone of all of their mentorship. I’m here because of her Cathy Mcgee-Dixon
