We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Aboagye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, what are you inspired by?
Honestly, I am inspired by life itself. From the everyday struggles that I face, to the everyday triumphs. Most of my inspiration comes from realization of what is impacting our culture. I try to implement that sentiment alongside how I personally feel as means of inspiration towards creation. People will always flock towards the truth so why not express real things in what I create while expressing my own feelings simultaneously. ~ Tyler Aboagye

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is something that I feel cant be replicated just because where it derives from. I take my personal experiences and really mesh them into creative ways to express a message, with pieces like love fear greed, corrupt world, and more that I am currently working on. I am here today, although In my ming Im really no where yet, because of God and just due to my ability to express myself through clothing, and meeting my business partner in 7th grade really changed my life and showed me how it was ok to be different from others but it was also a treasure to passionately embrace that difference. The whole message behind our art is to stay true to who you are in a world where that was scarce at a point, which is why we came up with Last of a dying Breed. ~Tyler Aboagye

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am somewhat a boring person but we would just chill at my crib, make some clothes, plan some ideas out for the future, find some events going on in the city like a underground concert or a pop up shop and try to pull up to network and support. Wed prolly go to Harlem, Brooklyn , or Mount Vernon after to check out some thrifts, museums, or just hang with some of our people in the area. We really eat something new everytime we go to new york. Last time I had Jimbo’s in Harlem, other times Amy Ruths or we just pull up to a deli and get a chopped cheese nun fancy. ~ Tyler Aboagye

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ok ,I want to shoutout a book I read during quarantine, Introduction to sociology, because it brought me nuisance to my everyday thought and allowed me to think deeper as a human being towards how to navigate life. I also want to shoutout my parents because without them I would be who I am today character wise. My dad is the most hardworking person I know and my mom is the most spiritual and I am a little combination of both. Shoutout God most importantly! ~Tyler Aboagye
