Hi George, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of D’Truth Kitchen are the teammates! D’Truth Kitchen is successful because everyone that works here has the same vision! The culture here is everyone helps one another become better! We are a work family that builds on bridging our neighborhood’s culture with the appreciation and love of food! Whether the meal is Weekend Brunch, Weekday Supper, or After Midnight Snacks, we cover all palates! The Management, Event coordinators, DJs, Security, Chefs, and Dishwashers are always treated with the same respect. Everyone is pushing each other to be the best that can be!
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets our kitchen and food apart from other places in the area is that “We love what we do”! Chef Carl Thomas and I have been cooking professionally in other companies franchise kitchens for over 40 years combined. We know the ups and downs of working in restaurants. Times can be slow like with COVID-19 or pick up and become busy as soon as the doors open. We have fun growing our brand and using our extensive knowledge of various cooking styles. It has not been an easy process at all, but we keep pushing because we take so much pride in what we serve to our customers. I am just so happy and blessed to be able to do this with my best friend. Chef Carl Thomas is truly the man behind the brand and we just want our guests to love our food as much as we do!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday-Margarita Monday at D’Truth nightclub is the spot. Great food and Good Cocktails. DJ Chill Will is on sound control
Tuesday-Taco Tuesday @ Creation Smoothies is a great choice plus they have the best smoothies in town
Wenesday -Big Nick for Lunch best BBQ in the city / Krave is the spot for the night with Karaoke
Thursday -Dads Good To Go Food To Go Is my personal spot they have breakfast,soulfood and they are open until 4am on weekend
Friday-We Going to Sip Jazz & Blues Bar Big Nick and Trell doing Great things over there
Saturady- We going to D”Truth KItchen For Brunch with Flexico / For the night we in the Amvets
Sunday- Soulfood Sunday @ Dtruth Kitchen with Chef Carl & Chef George / Sauced Up Sunday @ Deja Vu Nightclub
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would like to shout out my mentor, Chef Thomas Wenning. He has really encouraged and taught me so much about becoming and being a chef over the many years that I have known him. Many believe that being a chef is only about cooking food for others. This is not the case! Chef Thomas gave me full insight into what the title “Chef” truly means. Another person who deserves a lot of credit and is the reason I’m here today is my wife, Tiana. She has proven to school me daily on life, love, and cooking. A Chef’s daily schedule is not a 9-5, it’s not a 5 am-midnight either, your spouse is the glue that holds the balance between your business and family. Last but not least, I want to give much appreciation to all the staff at D’Truth Inc. They have really pushed me to be a better Chef, owner, Friend, brother, and husband. I can’t do anything without my staff!
