We had the good fortune of connecting with Tre Lundy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tre, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process for starting my own business and being a business minded person was me not being as happy working for someone else rather working for myself. I started out dying and coloring the locs of my friends, roommates & pretty much anyone willing for free. While on the other hand going to work for someone and feeling like I’m just another employee isn’t as enjoyable. Styling and coloring my own locs, I used those skills in my own business. I use what I enjoy, the products I use and implement my own spin and style.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Me starting to be a Loctician in Atlanta is not an easy task. I’m still growing and offering more services since my business is just starting and it has not been easy. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail, every clients scalp is different. no one person has the exact same hair type or curl. i cater to knowing how to treat their scalp treat the locs to maintain an already healthy loc or repair and bring back hydration or relieve a dry/itchy/flakey scalp. Trying to overcome being in a new area and finding new clients is the difficult especially when you don’t have all the tools as someone more experienced. More important lessons learned or the most important lesson to learn in being a loctician or any hairstylist is to treat each person in your chair as your only client. I would like for the world to know me as Trestylis the loctician Colorist specialist
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To kick the week of we would go and have breakfast at Murphy’s Resturant. then spend most of the day at piedmont park chatting and catching up. Day 2 we would visit the coca cola factory here in atlanta and have dinner at the twin smokers barbeque
Day 3 would be a shopping adventure at atlantic station while we grab bites to eat there as well.
Day4 would be brunch first at Bqe Resturant & lounge then a couple bars in the area like joes on juniper, and blakes.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special thanks to my family & friends who got me going and motivated to purse more in myself and career. And shout to Quintin he has been the biggest motivator in my career growth and pressing me to do more. Yall can find him on Instagram @tha_peoples_choice
