We had the good fortune of connecting with Takesha Pratt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Takesha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had a passion to travel the world and my goal was to show my friends and family how to travel stress free and without breaking the bank. I never considered turning my love for travel into a career, but after planning a much needed vacation for a close family friend, and receiving a shoutout on Facebook, my DM went crazy with people wanting help with their upcoming travel plans. I couldn’t believe the amount of business I was receiving and the amount of money I was making doing what I loved. I was working as a Respiratory Therapist when I started my travel career and soon after my love for travel took over my life. I made a plan to step down from my Respiratory job in 2020 and of course Covid changed my plans. I decided to follow my heart and give up my role as a Full time Respiratory Therapist August 2020 and I haven’t looked back since. I could no longer Work for anyone else and not WERK for myself. The Work with an “O” is the Work you do for Others, but The WERK with an “ E” is the Effort and Energy you put into your own dreams!!! I was taught this from my Business partner Koereyelle DuBose. I am now living my dreams and paying myself!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own and operate a full service travel concierge. I book, plan and help my clients create stress-free travel. I am most proud of the fact that my travel company only have over 2,000+ followers, yet I have managed to become known throughout the world. Trip Spice is not your typical travel agency, because Trip Spice has no problem turning down clients or money. I pride myself on giving you the best deal for your budget and when I can’t provide this to my clients, my clients are aware that I will find someone that can better serve them. . The ride has its ups and downs, case in point the Coronavirus! The travel industry can be up one minute and down the next minute. Dealing directly with people everyday can be a challenge, especially being a wife and mother, but I have found balance and I have learned from my mistakes along the way. I take my breaks to regroup so I can better serve my clients. . My Name Speak for itself “ Trip Spice “ I spice up every trip I create! Adding free perks, extra amenities and more! If I can get it, my clients will have it… Free of Charge!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I planned a weekend for a friend visiting me , I would first take them to Lil Mamas Chicago Hoagies!! And Chef Express, The American Cuisine for lunch and dinner. Late night we would stop by The Cigar Lounge a cool local hangout in my city for drinks, and music. Sunday Brunch would definitely be at 1885 and we would visit downtown Chattanooga for walk, bike ride and late night drink! Maybe even take a boat ride.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Terrance Locke owner of Chef Express. Koereyelle DuBose owner founder of WERK U University and The Black Travel Academy. Chadrick Pratt owner of Dirtbully Mobile Car wash and detail (My husband)
