We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Fleming and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacy, how do you think about risk?
“The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward”. Although I didn’t always have that mindset 100%, that is one quote I truly live by now. I’ve taken many risks to get to where I am today. Starting a business was definitely a risk alone, but it was worth it. Things don’t always start out the way you may prefer, but eventually it pays off. My time, money, attention, innovation, and energy was sacrificed in order to grow as an entrepreneur and leader. I cannot see the future, but I simply keep faith. Now I watch my business grow daily as well as myself being able to inspire others. If I didn’t risk spending my funds that I accumulated from working a job & braiding hair on inventory, I wouldn’t be able to see different people out with merchandise from my store nor be able to maintain a consistent flow throughout my business ventures! I encourage anyone to take that risk. Calculate your steps and you won’t regret it!

What should our readers know about your business?
I currently run an online store for women of all sizes. It is known as StaceBasedTings and offers clothes, shoes, purses, and many more accessories. Consistency is key! I started very small with braids and mink strip lashes, then added more of a variety of products as I make more money and learn more! I am extremely adamant about treating all of my clients and customers fair and equal. Even when things take place that are beyond my control, I still manage to make sure they’re satisfied. It is never just about a dollar for me. It also always quality over quantity for me. I handle all of my people as I would want to be handled, even if it is their first and last time doing business with me. Experience is the greatest teacher, which is honestly what pushes me higher throughout my journey. As far as #TheStaceAffect, it is a positivity movement. It’ll soon be a nonprofit organization! I aspire to inspire and reach back and help as many people as I can. I truly understand how it feels to be in a dark space as well as lacking resources.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d recommend somewhere fun like the Atlanta Selfie Museum, the Ferris Wheel, and Indoor Skydiving. For a good bite, I’d say a few brunch places or nice restaurants to have dinner at. Harold’s, The Hive, and Atlantis, Medusa lounge just to name a few. You could never go wrong with a nice picnic at Piedmont park!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother. She also has her own cleaning business known as Resilient Cleaning! She is literally always by my side, especially when no one else is. I’ve watched her face and tackle many obstacles. That never gave her any reason to give me nor my siblings any excuse. She supports any and everything I do. She also pushed me through school and help me finish strong with my degree. I’d shout her out a million times!
