We had the good fortune of connecting with Mercedes Madison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mercedes, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was simple I wanted ownership. I wanted something that belonged to me and created opportunities for financial freedom. I’ve always loved hair, but I also wanted to build a brand that gave women quality products and confidence. I knew it wouldn’t happen overnight, but I was willing to put in the work. Every challenge has taught me something, and even through setbacks, I’ve never lost sight of the bigger vision. The Bundle Depot isn’t just about selling hair; it’s about building a legacy and creating multiple streams of income while doing something I’m passionate about

What should our readers know about your business?
The Bundle Depot was created from my passion for helping women feel confident and beautiful. What started as a love for hair quickly grew into a business focused on providing quality products, exceptional customer service, and creating an experience that goes beyond a transaction. I wanted my brand to be known for consistency, professionalism, and making every client feel valued.

My journey as a business owner has been anything but easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced setbacks, financial challenges, and moments where I had to completely pivot and rebuild. Most recently, recovering from a major knee injury while continuing to run my business reminded me that entrepreneurship requires resilience, adaptability, and faith. I’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding challenges it’s about learning how to navigate them without giving up.

What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients. Many of them have supported my business for years, and that loyalty means everything to me. It’s a reminder that when you consistently show up with integrity and care, people notice.

Today, I’m excited about the next chapter of The Bundle Depot. I’m expanding beyond just selling hair by building stronger business systems, embracing digital content, and creating multiple streams of income while continuing to serve my community. I want people to know that my brand represents perseverance, growth, and the belief that every setback can become the foundation for an even greater comeback.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Atlanta for a week, First things first, we’re definitely going to brunch because Atlanta has some of the best brunch spots. Then we’re hitting the BeltLine, Ponce City Market, doing a little shopping at the outlets, and just enjoying the city.

Now one place we’re absolutely going is Hal’s Steakhouse. If you know, you know. That’s my spot! Every time somebody comes to Atlanta, Hal’s is on the itinerary.

We’re definitely catching a Braves game if they’re in town, checking out the Georgia Aquarium, grabbing drinks at a rooftop, and finding a good vibe with great music. Atlanta has so much to offer, so I’d want them to experience a little bit of everything from the food to the culture to the nightlife.

What I love most about Atlanta is that there’s always something to do. Whether you’re into food, sports, business, or just hanging out with good people, this city has a way of making you feel at home. That’s why I love calling Atlanta home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I’d have to give a shoutout to God for giving me the strength to keep going, even when life hasn’t gone as planned. I’d also like to recognize my family, friends, mentors, and clients who have supported me throughout my journey. There have been seasons where I questioned myself, faced setbacks, and had to rebuild, but their encouragement reminded me to keep moving forward.

I’d also like to give a special shoutout to every client who has trusted The Bundle Depot over the years. Without them, my business wouldn’t be what it is today. Every purchase, referral, and word of encouragement has helped me continue building my dream. My journey has taught me that success is never achieved alone it’s built on community, support, and people who believe in you even when you’re still becoming the person you’re meant to be.
