We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Eaves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I found out at an early age that I did not like working for someone else. I knew that I was very organized, ambitious, and a hard worker, so I took it upon myself to start my own photography business. I started doing a few portraits and pictures for families during my Junior year of high school, and by senior year my business started to expand and grow exponentially. I love working for myself and I love being able to do what I love to do as a career. I am very proud of how far I’ve come at such a young age.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a portrait photographer. I love everything there is to the art of portraiture. I started off doing senior portraits, but now I have broadened to studio work, weddings, and collaborations with clothing brands. My favorite work is within the studio. A year ago, I was able to set up my own studio in my own studio space. All throughout the past four years of taking photos, my main struggle has been doubt, but I constantly remind myself that as long as I put in my all in my work I will succeed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, I would take them to Piedmont park for a picnic and some photos and then spend the rest of the day doing some activities like skyzone, ice skating, and/or roller skating. I would end the night with a drive through the Christmas light show in Atlanta. The next day I would take them to Little Five Points and the Beltline and show them around the whole city. There so many places in Atlanta to visit, I couldn’t possibly list them all!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to my close friends for always believing in me and encouraging me when I needed it the most. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I would also love to dedicate a shoutout to my sister, who, although is no longer with us, has been the one I look up to and that pushes me to work harder and do my absolute best every day.
