We had the good fortune of connecting with Reec Swiney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reec, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking has been pivotal in my career in radio and in life in general. It’s relative with betting on yourself and having the confidence that your goals can be achieved and will be met in one way or another, IF you are willing to go after them. I quite a pretty good paying job, that I didn’t really care for, in order to intern at a radio station, while focusing full time on our family non profit (Positive American Youth) and host community events. Hosting those events gave the station operating manager an idea of what my personality was like, which led to an on air opportunity. That opportunity got me to a full time on air gig!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The pandemic of 2020 changed the course of a lot of people within the media realm, including myself. I had to transition from hosting a top rated mid day radio show on Hot 107.9 in Atlanta, to operating and hosting a hybrid live radio / podcast show on a new media platform. From Hot 107.9FM I went to being the flag ship show on a startup Media Streaming company, but when they had some financial issues, we took our show and built our own media company to house it as well as other great programs. Hence, REEC RADIO / WHO YOU WIT PRODUCTIONS was formed late 2020.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta nightlife is crazy (in a great way)! Even during a pandemic we were open open, lol. So when my friends visit of course they partake at a club or two, or three, but I like to take them to places that aren’t heavily featured on my social media algorithms, especially when they bring their families down. I love the water and to ride boats and jet skis so we like to visit Lake Allatoona. It’s a lot less crowded than Lanier but still features most of the amenities. If it’s a get away, we hit Helen, GA and enjoy the restaurants, cabins and fresh air up there. They have tons of little attractions including ATV riding. On the South Side off of Camp Creek my friend Braunnu has a little horse ranch and riding trail. As far as eateries you can’t go wrong with soul food from places like Granny’s in Austell, Hatie Maries in East Point, Big Daddy’s Dish on Old National, Creorlean’s Food Truck is a can’t miss and Smaoke and Bones BBQ. If they want anything intimate I absolutely would recommend Chef Marlo to bring the gourmet food to you! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
You can go fast alone, but you can’t go far. That saying has held very true for many people including myself. Without my Father who acts as a business partner and manager, there’s no way I could achieve as many things as I have in business and as a brand without him. He also gave me the entrepreneurial drive. I also have a great mentor in the world of media by the name of Hurricane Dave. People say that I’m a hard worker and I dedicate that from seeing my grandfather, or as I call him “Papa”, work long hours and then take care of other family member’s needs. Whether it’s helping fix a leaky faucet or mowing their yard. I find an unlimited amount of motivation knowing that my daughters are watching. I have to recognize my Reec Radio Team including my cohost Ms. Juicy and Bevie Stitch and our PR team the Meme Agency.
