We had the good fortune of connecting with PRISCA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PRISCA, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have been given some pretty intense alien-level abilities when it comes to music and creativity, therefore I have an unspoken promise to use these unique gifts to keep cultivating and expressing them positively. The more I show all of my colors within a song, album, and performance, it unlocks something within my listeners, and allows them to embrace themselves and to not feel alone.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is Cinematic Pop music. I am bursting with empathy when I sing, and the emotional connection that my music holds is thematic throughout my upcoming album, titled ‘Yes, Yes.’. What sets me apart from others is that I write my own music, I perform, and I also co-produce it as well. I am an independent artist an entertainer, a female ringer amongst an industry of men, and flow with the side of compassion when it comes to my listeners. I arrived to where I am today by keeping kindness and integrity as a staple in everything that I do. It hasn’t been an easy road, but if your passion is worth something to you, it will be worth learning how to swim through the mud. I wouldn’t appreciate it if it was easy to attain. There are a lot of hard lessons that I have learned along the way; one of them is how to stand up for myself promptly when my intellectual property is involved. I want the world to know that when you are authentic, and have the talent and dedication to back it up, a space opens up for you that is full of light, so be true to yourself, and I’ll be that example if you need it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit, I would show her my favorite view of the full city at sunset by hiking up Stone Mountain together, and sitting at the top until the moon rises. I would share music with her by my friends who are a part of the Atlanta music community, and get her involved in a production somehow. Right now because of the strange times we are in, it is tough to imagine what else we would be doing, but pre-covid times, we would hang out in Cabbagetown to taste the city, and then travel to a friend’s house to celebrate life and sing songs around a grand piano taking turns until everyone falls asleep all around us. If full blown concerts were happening, I would make sure that she would visit when ATL Collective was performing because each show is unique and dope, and they feature the artists who are the heartbeat of Atlanta. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m dedicating my shoutout to those in music entertainment right now, because we are all fighting to find a new normal with everything going on. The Atlanta music community is strong, and it is a chosen family for me that has seen me through my lowest lows and celebrated with me during my highest highs. I’d like to shoutout Billy Hume (Grammy Award-Winning producer) for being an incredible partner and friend as we have been creating my debut album amongst other projects for years. His mind is inspiring, and we have each others’ backs, so there’s not much more you could ask for in a dear friend.
