We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakeisha Westbrook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakeisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a very independent individual, so after graduating high school it was always a dream of mine to become a business owner. After having 2 amazing children, that pushed me even more to want to own my own business so that not only my children could benefit from it (by not having to work for anyone), their children will as well.

What should our readers know about your business?

I currently have 3 businesses which are Trois Seven Designs which is an interior painting company that specializes in Interior Painting, wood staining, and more. My second business is Themed Upon A Time, which is my event design firm that specializes in Children events. I design events from baby showers, 1st birthday parties, slumber parties, gaming events for boys, tea parties, and more. We love brining a child’s vision for their party to life. I work alongside my husband as he is also the DJ (DJ KDubb) for all of our events. My third business is Eden Ivy Co, which is my floral design business. I have always had a passion for art and creativity since the age of 5, and since the age of 12 have always wanted to be an interior designer which later changed into designing as a whole and not just specific to interior design.

How I got to where I am today, was being dedicated to my success. I will not say it was easy, but I will say it took a lot of dedication and patience. There were times where I felt like giving up, but the determination in me would not allow me to give up.

The lessons that I learned along the way is  success does not come easy. If you want it bad enough, you MUST work for it.

What I would like the world to know about me is that I am a very passionate and creative person. People joke with me often and call me the woman of many talents, which I take as a compliment. I LOVE what I do, and it makes me smile from the inside out. Anything that allows me to creatively explore, makes me feel alive. I take each and every one of my businesses very seriously. I am a very family oriented, so I am always doing things that my family can be a part of. It makes my day when I can inspire others, and also get positive feedback from every client that I have encountered. I always take what my clients tell me into consideration, and if there is anything that I can learn or take from their experience with me, I always value their opinion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to come into town, (since I am somewhat of a tomboy) I would introduce her to axe throwing or atv/dirt bikes, go cart racing. We would also spend a day at Ponce City Market and relax on the roof top, and visit Bar Vegan. I am not really a night life person, but if we went to a club it would be a nice lounge on Peter Street. We would probably go to Piedmont Park and have a picnic, or Botanical Gardens. If we went to a restaurant we would go to Sage at Perimeter, or Seasons 52 and enjoy cocktails made by two of my favorite bartenders (shout out to Gerald and Daniel). I usually enjoy drinking wine in the comfort of my home while watching a great movie, needless to say I am pretty simple most of the time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my success to my support system: my daughter DaZhaé Herrington, my son Dazhon Williams, along with my beautiful bonus daughters Kai Westbrook, Jordyn Fleming, and Kyra Westbrook. The best for last, my wonderful husband and business partner Kyle Westbrook!
