We had the good fortune of connecting with Marsha Baldwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marsha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business as a means for passive income while I work as a Nurse. I started out selling dresses, pants and accessories, but I did not feel a connection with what I was selling. I thought about it for a while and decided to rebrand my store as a reflection of what I was struggling with.
I had a hard time saying no to others including friends and family. I felt drained. I decided It was time to protect my space and my energy. Phone calls that lasted two hours before lasted 30 minutes or less, I stopped responding to text messages that were not important. And I know there are others going through similar situations and I created the block negative energy brand to reflect my growth. It was an emotional journey but I had to do it in order to focus on myself mentally ,emotionally and spiritually.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a nurse by profession , for the past year I have been travelling to different States to aid in the fight against Covid-19 at different hospitals. I am where I am today professionally by making a lot of sacrifices. I am most proud that I did not give up on me, I did not count myself out : I faced many obstacles over the years however I pressed on and persevered .
Was it easy ? No It was not easy. I often reminded myself it would not rain everyday. The key is never give up!
Big thank you to Iyanla Vanzant. I downloaded her app “Awakenings”, which helped me to get through some difficult times in my life. I overcome my challenges by learning how to meditate and how to manifest. Praying daily and asking God not to leave me nor forsake me and give me faith and courage to continue on when I felt like giving up . I often took long walks in the park which became very calming and therapeutic for me.
Lesson I learned along the way- All things will align in divine order, and will come to pass in the right time. I have learned that peace of mind is a priority and it is necessary to separate ourselves from negative energy and protect our space and peace, High vibration only.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am a resilient individual, as a result I was able to rebrand my business to highlight the importance of positive vibration. Our brand is committed to ensuring that the world knows that blocking negative energy is a part of self care. Setting boundaries for friends and family is perfectly normal , that is part of protecting our space.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take her to Atlanta Botanical Garden for a stroll to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Garden. I love a good time.I will definitely take them to Top Golf. It is one of my favorite places to have drinks and food while we play golf indoors.
For some outdoor fun Stone mountain Park is my go to for hiking once at the top of the mountain the view of Atlanta is spectacular. A good dinner is a must one of my favorite places to eat is at The Sun Dial restaurant in Atlanta. I love a good view. This restaurant has an excellent view of the city while you dine and the food is scrumptious.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shayleen Gayle, A true friend more like family, she has been there when the times were tough and when they were good. She pours into me just as much as I do in her.
My younger sister, Kensha, is one of my biggest supporters . When I asked to mail her something from the store, she declined, and stated she will purchase it online . I can count on her for good advice and encouraging words. To my sister Attorney at law, Kensha Theobalds, Thank you for everything I love you sis.
