We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariam Hisseine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariam, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the business and my success is the ability to help those restore what’s always been theirs. As we go through life there are parts of who we are that get picked off little by little. Some good, some bad. We find ourselves wishing we still had that sense of adventure, courage, confidence or strength but where did it go? How do we get it back? Or my favorite, how did I get here? All questions and no answers. Bounce Blacc wants people who feel this way to know that it’s possible to bring that person back in many ways, one of them is through hair care. I know that when we are having an amazing hair day the confidence is high, the attitude is present, the body’s entire demeanor screams I AM THAT WOMEN or I AM THAT MAN, SEE ME! We want our supporters to Bounce Blacc financially, mentally, physically, spiritually, generationally, wealthy and unapologetically you!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to where I am professionally wasn’t easy. I pursued this artistic and creative career because growing up I’ve always been into Art. It was my thing before Science. While in college I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to do with my life. I couldn’t see myself working some of the career paths my peers chose to go down. So when it finally became my senior year I knew that my job after school wouldn’t be a traditional job and I’d likely be making my own position. I took on different Art electives while attending Rutgers University-Camden which further confirmed my artistic abilities. I’m very hands on and I love the creative freedom you can experience while being artistic and the individuality it brings to your persona. One of my challenges is budgeting its something I’m learning to implement into my business and my daily personal finances. It’s funny you don’t realize how unorganized and mismanaged your personal finances are until you have something else that needs management. Ever since starting my business I’ve been on a financial correction journey, I’m still there too! Another challenge would be funds. If I knew how difficult it would be getting it I would have done it when I first started the business. Another lesson I learned is to research who can help you with what. An amazing app called Fiverr has helped me tremendously. This application allowed me to reach out to professionals that were competent in things like logo making or social media marketing. I want the world to know that having hard conversations with yourself isn’t easy or what most do but we should often. We are susceptible some more than others to negative thoughts. It’s like a cycle on repeat of everything you think is wrong about you but in reality isn’t true. Shift your focus. The time is now and we only have today tomorrow isn’t promised. If you are not open to change then naturally nothing will change, things will remain stagnant until there is some sort of shift. Keep an open mind to opportunities that may come your way if you want to be open to receiving them. Change can be fun, it’s not always scary go with it instead of resisting it, who knows where you’ll end up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

So for our week long trip on the itinerary would be Monday: Brunch, Philly Museum visit, Seafood boil dinner, Movies. Tuesday: Mimosas, bowling, Brazilian steakhouse dinner. Wednesday: Aquarium, evening home/ hangout, dinner made at home together. Thursday: walk in the park/ waterfront with breakfast, drinks, sushi for lunch, hookah lounge/ dinner rest of the night. Friday: mimosas, trampoline park, soul food lunch and DIY candle making.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! Mr. Terrence Jones, he was my mentor and counselor in college,he took the time to really work with me and helped me see who I am. He is the owner of Jones Gold Motivation and without him I’m sure I wouldn’t have graduated on time or given much thought to my life once school was over. He gave me inspiration, strength, courage and hope. Anytime I needed to talk he was there, when I needed advice that wasn’t school related he was there, even after graduation he was there still checking on me. You don’t come across many school counselors willing to go above and beyond for the needs of their students. My other shoutout would be to my organization Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. This was my first introduction of what it means to run a business and how to do so. I was Treasurer in my organization for three years and President my final year in school in 2020. The Sorors I met were amazing women and as a member we hosted different events on campus and programs which got me out of my shy comfort zone and allowed me to speak to people comfortably. My final shoutout would be to my lord, family, sorors, friends and supporters. I couldn’t be more grateful for the love, encouragement and support from them
