We had the good fortune of connecting with Kizzie Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kizzie, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always been a thrill seeker and risk taker. I have been known to participate in activities such as jet skiing, swimming with dolphins, skiing, and skydiving, just to name a few. Therefore, taking risks in my career has been second nature to me. I’ve always thrived to be the best at whatever I do, which makes me want to always challenge myself to acheive more. Moving to Atlanta over 13 years ago as a single mother with a 3 1/2 year old son was the beginning of risk taking in my career. Starting from scratch with a toddler was hard to say the least, but I knew I needed to put myself in a better position to take care of my son and to expose him to things I wasn’t growing up. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made. I found a great job and found a wonderful man who is now my husband. 10 years later I decided that the good job was not enough for me, so I decided to start my own real estate business. Leaving a corporate job was definitely scary, but I stepped out on faith and took the risk. I am truly thankful for the mindset to take these risks. My goal in life is to build a legacy for my children and my children’s children. Real estate is a great way for me to achieve that. My husband and I want our kids to understand all things are possible if they are willing to work for it and are passionate enough. If you don’t take risks in your life, you will remain stagnant and miss out on so much the world has to offer. I am a true believer that you should live life to the fullest and not just exist.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am an Associate Broker with Keller Williams and my company name is Kizzie Distinguished Realty, LLC. I decided to start my own business in real estate over 3 years ago because I wanted to have my own business and not be confined to a job any longer. I wasn’t being challenged or fulfilled at my job. I need to feel accomplished at whatever I do and my job was not giving me that feeling anymore. Real estate is not a business that you step in and have overnight success. It requires hard work, determination, patience and most of all passion. I know that all of those things helped me to become successful in my first full year of real estate. I also knew that I had to brand myself and stick out from the others. So I started that from day one. I made sure that all my clients and potential clients knew that I loved what I did and that my goal was to always put their interest first. They are not just one transaction for me, they become friends and family. Most people don’t use their real estate agent twice because after a couple years, they forget their name. I do not just want to be their real estate agent but their family and their friend’s agent as well. I remember their birthdays, send them emails for holidays and call to check in on them. I think that is what keeps me stand apart from others and helps me to get repeat and referral business.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shoutout to my loving husband Thomas and my awesome sons. They all supported my decision to launch my all girls non-profit organization by the name of Distinguished Young ladies in 2016 and to start my real estate business in 2017. My husband encouraged me to to walk away from my corporate job as a paralegal and he showed me what entrepreneurship was all about. He was a great example of an entrepreneur as he built Tate The Great Moving Company by scratch and has now become a reputable and successful business in his industry. He showed me it was achievable. I also would love to shout out my mother Jeanette who has always been a great support system and had faith in me when I doubted myself. She has always cheered me on in whatever endeavor I embarked on and taught me to go after whatever I wanted in life. I will be forever grateful for my support system.
