We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Shelton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thoughts for starting every business I’ve started, has been to solve a problem for myself and my peers; to create something useful and valuable.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from anyone else is simply my mind; the way I see the world. I’ve always been an executer. I have a vision and make it a reality. I’m most excited about my newest product, the TMRO App. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to build a team that has helped me bring a product to life that will open up many opportunities for creative people like myself. I’ve gotten to where I am today by not giving up on myself and surrounding myself with people that are dreamers as well. Nothing has been easy, but I have made it a point to have joy in the midst of the journey, not just at the destination. I’ve overcome my challenges through self reflection. Self reflection has always allowed me to evolve as a person, which spills over onto my career. One lesson I’ve learned as being a creative and business woman is that you must continue to love yourself and be loving with yourself as you make mistakes. I’ve learned that is all about not giving up. Often times you have to pause, restructure, and keep going. I want the world to know that my products and my creative work is a piece of me and everything I present to the world, is founded in my desire to bring value to those around me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love relaxing and rejuvenating experiences. I’d definitely visit Spa Land. I’d want to go to Herban Fix for lunch. Chastain Park or Sweet Water Creek for some hiking. I love retail therapy and so I’d want to go to a few of my fav Resale shops like Labels or Alexis Suitcase. We would be eating a lot so I’d also go to Lovin It Live and Roots Juice. I could go on and on.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There has been so many people that have played a role in my success as an entrepreneur, but I’d have to give credit to my mother, my father, and my sister. They have all showered me with so much love and support since the beginning of my entrepreneurial path, at the age of 17. It’s that foundation that has given me so much optimism to bring to the world and to my dreams.
