We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzaline Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazzaline, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor of my success behind my brand is transformation. I’m a firm believer in transforming people lives in the smallest ways whether that be smiling back or complimenting their outfit. It’s the simple things that can change a person whole day. Sevyn Cosmetics was built on the idea of transformation. My mission is to enhance your looks and transform your heart through the love of Christ. I want to be sure that once a person leaves my chair they not only feel beautiful but they understand their purpose. The joy on a clients face once they have received their service (hair or makeup) ; motivates me to “continue changing lives one hair style at a time.”
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting a business is never easy. In school they teach you the definition of entrepreneurship : a person taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to gain a reward. When you first start it’s hard but you have to be faithful to your vision. You’re the only one that can see it so why not bring it to life? The risk are super high. You will have a moment of doubt , discourage , and weakness but you have to understand that the reward is greater. My biggest obstacle was myself. I would allow my “hard times” discourage me from taking the next step. I was afraid of the “risk” because I was afraid to fail. I later had an awakening “you ONLY fail when you STOP trying “ (Martin Coat.) After realizing that I have nothing to lose but everything to learn I started to take more risk. I start to turn my fear into motivation and my tears into strength. I began to think positive and speak life into my business. I have a vision and I will achieve it by any means possible. Does that mean I won’t fail ? No not at all. That means that even if I fail 99 times I will get up 100.
Since I have launched my business I have learned to truly have faith and not fear the things that are unknown.
If I could give the world a token of advise I would say believe in yourself, start the business and don’t let society tell you what you can do. Follow the path that you have built for yourself , don’t be afraid to fail , reach out for help when needed and grow.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I could take a week trip I would go to a beach. Some where tropical and warm. I would start the morning watching the sun come up while I journal and listen to soft music. Later that day I would probably go to an art museum or looking at different hair salons in the local area. As the day progresses I would find things such as arcades , water parks, selfie museums , and other attractions. After the festivities I would end in the night on the beach watching the waves and gaining inspiration as I allow my thoughts to become in sync with the ocean. Every day after I would repeat the same steps until time to leave.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you to everyone who has supported and pushed me to be who I am today. There has never been a thought that I wouldn’t be successful ; didn’t know it would be so soon. I truly thank my family and friends who has supported me thus far. From sharing a 2 bedroom home with 10+ people to being knowing as the “hair and makeup girl.” God has truly been faithful to me and for that I am grateful. I pray that God continues to direct my steps and guide me to where he wants me to be. To my siblings , parents and grandparents “this is only the beginning.” For everyone who is watching my growth please remember “You have brains in head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direct you choose … you are the one who’ll decide where to go …” Dr Seuss.
