We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Holmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Probably making the decision to take that extra step to take my business to the next level and enroll into school for my career definitely. School gave me a different view and added onto what I already knew. It also gave me new business ideas & gave me more opportunities!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a different type of UMPH when I do makeup. I can do the face of the everyday woman, a bride or bridesmaid, or someone simply going to an event. My work is glowy and the looks melt into your skin and the SKIN is always going to give! It was NOT easy to get to this point. I’ve done more than enough free work. I’ve invested into beauty school education and my work just simply speaks for itself. My customer service has always been A1 & I take my business so serious. It’s my baby! I don’t face too many challenges. Knock on wood. But when you do what you love & love what you do, what challenges are there to face? My clients give me no problems & we mesh perfectly. Lessons I’ve learned along the way was to be firm in my policies because people will waste your time. But when you set the tone, they know not to take it there with you. You have to take your own business serious so that they do too. Never short yourself or your prices! JazzyBArtistry gives a luxury service & I always strive to produce the best work possible. The ultimate goal is to impact all women and to bridge together the harmony of her inner confidence with her outer beauty!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok so I don’t go out much but I LOVE food. If you want brunch, Biscuits & Jams is really good and black owned. They have numerous mimosas to choose from! I’ve recently went to The Menu. It’s a vibe, the food is great & they have hookah which I love! Lol. I love to drink and bowl, so AndyBs is always a win for me! Lafayette’s is a great place in Midtown for day drinking and great food & live music. When the weather’s great eat on the patio! Definitely a vibe.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The support I get from my clients is what keeps me going! I have clients turned friends that only come to me & for that, I will forever be thankful for them! I get support from my husband, my family & friends!
When I started doing makeup in 2017, my husband was my biggest supporter! He had a professional camera so he would have me do a model’s makeup and we would pick a location to take pictures. I had a few of those for my portfolio. I would also do my own makeup and he would take pictures of me too! Now he’s an upcoming producer that puts artists together to collab & now when there’s a music video, I’m the makeup artist!
And shoutout to my little Anthony, my babyboy that is 8 months this month! He inspires me to just KEEP GOING more than he will ever know!
I truly have an entire village and overall I’m very thankful & I’ll never take that for granted.
