Meet Tanisha Tate | Life Coach, Model, Motivational Speaker, Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Tate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2018 I was struggling with identity, finding place and footing in the world. I felt alone and like I had no one to talk too. Originally from Washington DC and now living in Columbia SC, I had felt alone. So one day I just started to write. I wrote about acceptance, transparency, life as a twenty year old and so forth and transferred it into a blog, I fit Just FINE. That year it became the theme of my life. It allowed me to find comfort in my growth and who I was becoming. In my blog I would write personal stories and revelations I had from body insecurities, to bad relationships, to trying to just navigate the world but I would always encourage the idea of being one self and not letting society, social media, peers or family dictate your timeline and identity. It wasn’t until 2020 I wanted to be more transformative and looked in life coaching and empowerment speaking and allowing my story to be more personal with my audience. So I elevated ifitjustfine from a blog to a community life coaching business, using my platform to educate and inspire youth while empowering and encouraging adults. I wanted to show that’s it’s okay to be where you are because we all grow differently. I wanted to debunk the societal norms and breakthrough the barriers and encourage everyone to accept the present, live for moment, and passionately work towards the life you desire. And if sharing my personal stories or giving a little hope a day could help I’m satisfied.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an empowerment speaker , life coach , and model. I’d like to say I specialize in getting individuals to understand they are more than capable of creating the life they want with what they already have. I collaborate with community partners to teach life skills to youth, I speak and Coach women and men to utilize their full potential to achieve what they desire as success. I use my platform as a model to empower women to love who they are and embrace where they are growing. In some way I connect all my platforms to encourage self love, self care, capability and ability. Im proud of how cohesive I’ve allowed all my passions to roll into one where I never feel I’m pulled in more than one direction or all over the place. As a life coach I’m most proud of how transparent I’ve been with clients and my audience. As a model I’m most proud of passing skills and knowledge to the youth through my “Out of the Box” Kids Fashion Show to allow the youth to creatively express themselves but learn media & modeling all at the same time. What sets me apart from others is my energy & passion. My energy enters rooms before I do and my passion is heard in everything I do. My brand ifitjustfine is more than a brand it’s a lifestyle way of thinking. It’s a mantra and affirmation to yourself that in this moment despite what I feel or what I don’t have or where I’m at, I fit just fine and I capable of more. I didn’t always have this mindset, it took me years to stop mentally and emotionally torturing myself by comparing myself and growth to the world. But once I developed the mindset that I had everything I need to go for what I want I started to live, I started to fill more fulfilled with life. I began to understand that life will happen and it’s up to me to decide how I let it impact me. Combining my passion for the fashion world , using my confidence to speak openly, and serving the the community became easy once I allowed myself to think freely, feel openly, and express with intent.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to town in Columbia SC, I would take them to Main St to enjoy the music, art and nightlife offered here. To places such as Main Course , that has almost weekly events from open mic to local concerts, and the food is great. I would take them to Moctezumas Mexican Restaurant, amazing food and my favorite place to grab Mexican food. Red Sake (Sushi Buffet) like who doesn’t love all you can eat fresh made sushi to order! Now being from DC we love a good carry-out (Chinese Restaurant) and so far the best place to get fresh Chinese food is Main Moon located on Rosewood Drive. Columbia has a few areas where there are beautifully painted murals from 5 points , Lincoln St to Sumter st. The art is amazing and tells a story. But the best breakfast spot is Rays Diner on Two Notch, it’s like waking up Sunday morning and smelling your mom cook breakfast before church.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In looking at my journey and understanding my growth was not done alone I want to thank my mother and sisters, they are my rock and inspiration. They challenge and support me but allow me to be me. Next I would thank my friend village( Ayana, Kadejah & Snow) without these amazing women I wouldn’t know how to stay grounded or appreciate my victories along the way.
