We had the good fortune of connecting with Euricka Alugas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Euricka, do you feel you are working on or pursuing your passion?
I am 100% pursuing my passion. a long time ago I decided that I wanted to create a platform where I could help people to stay safe and to protect their loved ones. I remember a very vulnerable time in my life during hurricane Katrina in 2005 being stuck inside my condo couldn’t leave for weeks surrounded by water. I vowed NEVER to allow myself to be that unprepared as it concerned my safety as well as my family’s safety. That was the day I decided to create the SAFE KIT and the rest is history. I think the most high opens unimaginable doors when you pursue your passion.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company SAFE KIT through a joint effort involving a collaboration with Emergency Disaster Recovery programs, prepare and protect United States citizens against natural disasters and/or man-made hazardous crisis situations. What sets my company apart from others is that it is the only of its kind that is minority-owned and 100% Woman-owned Safety Staffing, Training and Emergency Safety Supply company. I am most proud that we are one of the few Certified Licensed safety companies that’s on the front lines every day protecting millions during this crisis. Today through our, networking skills, and ability to connect with people of all backgrounds, SAFE KIT is helping to make workplaces more efficient and safe for all workers as we prepare to return back to our workplaces around the world in the weeks to come. I ended up getting to this place where I am today business-wise through my ability to never give up and to remain patient even when I did not see how this profession I chose would ever become as successful as it has become today. This has not been easy to say the least. It’s unfortunate that it took a world pandemic for people to truly understand how vulnerable they are and how important being safe is.
It is a huge challenge to take a company to a higher level within these uncertain times. I am always grateful to the most high for my companies accomplishments but I also acknowledge honor and respect all those we have lost loved ones that were taken away much too soon. How I overcome the challenges that I face as I strive to grow my business in this climate is to remain humble and to continue teaching others how to stay safe and above all alive. The lessons I’ve learned as a business owner along the way is that you never know what is around the corner. Never get comfortable, always stay ahead of the curve, and above all keep reinventing yourself and your business, be open to change. Change is inevitable as we all are witnessing today. The world is changing right before our very eyes this change will affect the way we all do business and we all have to be ready. What I’d like the world to know about my story is that I never grew tired even when so many doors closed in my face, I heard the word “no” almost every day. No one understood the importance of learning workplace safety rules or having someone consult them about having workplace safety meetings this is unheard of under normal circumstances but today it is the new norm for millions. The PPE equipment I was trying to sell to a few last year I now sell to millions. I would encourage anyone who is starting a new company to remain confident in the business you are building. As we reopen the world, I would like people to know that my company Safe Kit is currently assisting several large corporate firms to update and refine their safety rules within their particular industry’s. My company is licensed and certified in several areas of safety training and work processes, with topics including PPE gear, Hazmat, Heavy equipment, Airborne Pathogens, Viruses, etc., I want to continue to empower the lives of those around me through my company SAFE KIT, to maintain and enhance safety conditions at the workplace.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a big fan of the Arts so I and my friends are always interested in concerts and plays.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve learned so much from so many. I would like to recognize several who are on the front lines keeping us safe during this pandemic. These are our first responders, Doctors, Nurses, and several of our leaders in the emergency safety and supply communities who are tirelessly supplying PPE, medical equipment, etc.
