We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciarra Hodges and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciarra, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes. “Things are always working out for me.” This continues to remind me that no matter what I am facing, no matter what is standing in my way, it is there for my good. We all get discouraged and sometimes defeat gets the best of us, but I am always reminded that things are working out – even when it doesn’t seem like it. No – especially when it doesn’t seem like it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Challenges come each and every day. I pay them no mind except to learn from them. I got here by continuing. As a wellness advocate, it’s tough to decide when to push through and when to rest, but I’ve learned that everything is about balance. So I get my rest and I get things done. I got here by flowing. I make plans, but I also practice non-attachment. For those unfamiliar, this means that I don’t get hung up on the results, the timing, the “how” because that is truly none of my concern. My job is to see the vision and do what I can to bring it to life. The rest is up to God. I got here by trusting. To be an entrepreneur is to step out on faith and follow the path laid out for me.
I’d like the world to know that the moonhoney brand is a real one. The woman standing behind it is real. I like to say that I am superHUMAN. Yes I am magic and I am power, but I am also very, very human. The Black woman can often be viewed as strong and mighty, but rarely is she viewed as soft or feminine or as a being who feels all of her emotions deeply. It’s important that the world know I am all of those things and more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh I love a good tour of the city! I am in love with showing visitors all the different parts of Atlanta. I’m definitely taking you by Little Five Points, the West End, East Atlanta Village, South Fulton, The Beltline, Centennial Park – how much time do we have? Haha! I could go on. There are so many gems in Atlanta – especially in nature. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this to my “frans”! Support is the foundation of every business and it’s free! So SHOUTOUT to all of my frans who show up, who send kind words, who send clients, who share and like posts. Shoutout to all of you! My “frans” are my loved ones, my tribe. They never cease to show up for me!
