We had the good fortune of connecting with Christie Niq Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christie Niq, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After planning my 2006 wedding, Niq Williams Events was started out of a passion for celebrating life. I love touching every little detail and creating visual interest throughout the event. Our company motto is “Let’s explore the endless possibilities”!
What should our readers know about your business?
Niq Williams Event Management LLC is an award-winning, published, full-service event planning and floral design team; skilled and experienced in creating unforgettable events. Our team consists of fourteen staff members who plan, coordinate, and design special events. Niq Williams Events specializes in weddings, but are excited to design memorable events of all kinds. We’ve planned and designed over 200 weddings, dozens of parties, baby showers, corporate lunch and learns and more. Whether your event is local or across the globe, Niq Williams Events will handle “the planning and the pretty”! We love fresh flowers, candlescapes, and unexpected details that display our client’s personality. Our planning style involves planning in stages and often times end in those magical words that our client’s love to hear; “I’ll take care of it”. On the day of your event, your only focus should be preparing yourself for the time of your life. NWE provides on-site staff to manage every detail of your event, allowing you to be a stress-free host. Niq Williams Events is one of few companies in the Metro Atlanta area that offers full-service event planning, floral design and decor. Because we are able to offer “the planning and the pretty”, the demand for excellence in both areas can be challenging. However, we study our clients and vendor partners to help provide excellent service and build lasting relationships.
As we continue to build our team, we are very proud that the average team member has worked with NWE for 5 years. We currently have two full-time employees and several part-timers. We’d like to grow our team of part-timers and promote 1-2 of our part-time teammates to full-time. Although, we are considered highly experienced in the event industry, we continue to study our areas of opportunity individually and as a team. Continuous education is a requirement for growth and our full-timers lead by example by taking workshops and courses to enhance their creativity. We share the knowledge with the entire team. As a team, we are unstoppable! Niq Williams Events is proud to offer employment to mothers that can work in a fun environment while creating beautiful events, with a flexible work schedule. Because our team is allowed to choose the events they’d like to work, this allows for a great work-life balance.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Visitors to Metro Atlanta should experience shopping at North Georgia Premium Outlets, Phipps Plaza and The Avalon. Atlanta has many amazing restaurants, but some of my faves are E-Gyu Revolving Sushi & BBQ, Roc South Cuisine, Marietta Fish Market and Sunday brunch at Buttermilk Kitchen or Maple Street Biscuits are both delicious. Visiting the Georgia Aquarium is a great way to walk off Atlanta’s good eats!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success of Niq Williams Events would not be possible without God, the support of my family, and the help of like-minded friends. My husband, Murdock, supported my decision to leave a six-figure corporate job to build NWE full-time. My friends were my first team members in 2010 and always push me in the direction of excellence. Prior to making crucial decisions, oftentimes I consult fellow business owners, Crystal Hutchinson, owner of Grand Gala Venue, Alexandria Hicks, owner of Bourgeois Bohemians, and Fred Grant, owner of Premier Entertainment; but prayer always pushes me through.
