We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Garrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is having a great team that thrives to be the best at what we/they do, and having high standards that every job should be perfect and the customer completely satisfied.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think it’s the quality of work I do and attention to detail that sets me apart from others. It’s really exciting to take something that is old, ready to be thrown away and give it a new life with a new design and modern look.
I had learned a lot of my skill working at an independent shop and later polished my skill at a dealer before taking the step to go out on my own. No, it was not easy to master my skill, as there is no school that teaches what I do.
In this field, you make mistakes in the beginning, as you are recreating something that was old or destroyed. The key is the catch the mistake quickly and learn from that.
I take extreme pride and care in everything I do so as to satisfy the customer, whether it is in repairing a boat or customizing it and making it unique. I love creating the “wow” factor. To see a customer very happy with the finished product, makes me feel good!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m sure we would visit Little Five Points and have lunch at the Vortex. We would visit Stone Mountain, as well as Ponce City Market. We list near Lake Lanier so we would spend a couple of days on the lake. We would also visit some of the wineries in the North Georgia mountains.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My step-father, David, taught me to paint when I was really young and it became a passion of mine. My team/employees definitely deserve credit, as they strive to create the best product possible. My wife has been one of my biggest supporters over the last four years, helping in the office, the shop and emotionally when the stress level of owning my own business has been tough.
