We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Smith, EA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to be able to make a difference in people lives. People struggle everyday with financial management and I wanted to help relieve some of that stress. My family always tell me I have a wealth of knowledge and I want to pass it on to others. Peace Financial‘s mission is to help taxpayers resolve their tax debt and give them the peace they deserve. When people allow their financial situations to cause them to be overwhelmed, they began to make bad decisions in their everyday lives. I desire to give them the tools that they need to empower themselves financially and take their peace back.
What should our readers know about your business?
Peace Financial is a full-service accounting and tax firm. One of our specialties is helping individuals and businesses resolve their tax problems. We provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with the services they need to start up and successfully maintain their business. We also provide consultative services to inspiring business owners. My proudest moments are when I negotiate a settlement for my clients, and I can hear the relief in their voices. Just knowing I help them feel better about their situation makes me happy. Growing up I saw so many businesses fail because of past due taxes or money issues, so it makes me feel good to be able to help prevent some of that from happening. I got to where I am today by believing in myself and my abilities to help others. I always knew I love helping people but tapping into my talents was the first step. It was not easy because even after several degrees I still had to find the confidence in myself. I overcame my challenges by listening to my circle and realizing if I did not make a move it was people that would not receive the help that they needed. The lessons I learned along the way was to be myself and make every moment count. Continued education is very important for my profession. Tax laws are constantly changing, and it is my job to stay on top. I want everyone to know when they work with Peace Financial, we are their biggest advocate. We work hard to make sure we are making the best choices for their situation, and we will be with them from start to finish.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love shopping in Atlanta because we have great malls and outlets. I love taking a nice drive up 85 and shopping at the Mall of Georgia and Tanger Outlets. We have so many great places to eat. I like the Igloos at Ponce City Market and Publico Kitchen & Bar Restaurant in the Midtown area. The igloos are cute and secluded. My favorite brunch places are Milk and Honey and Breakfast at Barneys. Downtown Decatur have quaint little restaurants to enjoy as well. The high Museum of Art have a great evening of jazz once per month as well as other great art exhibits. The National Center for Civil and Human Rights and The King center are great places to go to learn about the civil rights movement and you can also visit the birth home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my tribe. I have a close circle of family and friends that keeps me motivated each day. I also meet with a mastermind group of wonderful women lead by Paula Burch Jackson every week. We discuss different leadership books, practices and topics that help us in our professional and personal lives. We motivate, encourage and uplift each other. I look forward to our meetings.
