Proverbs 3:5-6 5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 it is one of those verses that for me just reaffirms God’s sovereignty, as well as his ability to guide me along the path that he has prepared for me. Oftentimes it has helped me to put things back in the proper perspective whenever I have felt confused or uncertain about my life’s journey, by reminding me that God is in control. Therefore, not to base my decisions on my own understand because my understanding is extremely limited compared to God’s. I like that this verse, has time and time again reminded me, that I do not need to have all the details but that instead, I just simply need to surrender the need to have it all figured out, acknowledge who God is in every situation, and in every area of my life and trust his direction. Recently came across a video of a creator on Tiktok, named Sara Fiorvento, saying it and since then started to incorporate it in my routine. I love how it’s so empowering and grounding. My new life motto is “Now or Never, Living life to the fullest”. I’ve been singing all my life but decided to pursue a professional singing career in 2017. I began to look at my kids and realize I couldn’t teach them or encourage them to chase after their dreams if I wasn’t. Being an actor, it is apart of our job to be able to handle rejection and no one I know who has become successful in the business hasn’t had some kind of rejection. In fact, most of the greats I look up to such as Jennifer Lawerence, Angela Bassett, Kat Graham, and so many more were all told no at some point in time. A couple of years ago, I tattooed part of section 51 from Walt Whitman’s poem, Song of Myself on the inner part of my left wrist. The line reads: Do I contradict myself? I Am My Own Perfect* I read those words somewhere, can’t remember where, but that affirmation has come to be the best words that a person can abide by. Just the thought that I actually consider myself Perfect is something I wish that I could have related to in my teens, because I was not invited to the it crowd kinda lowered my self confidence.
