We had the good fortune of connecting with Brennan Kato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brennan, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
2 Chronicles 15:7 “But as for you be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” This has been my favorite bible verse for quite sometime now. Work hard and do not give up, it will all pay off in the end, that’s what I take from this verse. My mom and dad got me a necklace with a cross on it for my birthday, the cross has 2 chronicles 15:7 written on it, so that verse is always with me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I haven’t met any content people like myself, my vision is so much bigger than just the camera. I think a lot of people just chase the paycheck and not the relationship/network building, and that is why many people don’t make a career out of it. I started out with a $200 Nikon camera and had no idea what I was doing, but I taught myself along the way. I would message music artists on Instagram and would ask to shoot their content for free while I was building up my credits, I literally went broke doing it. A lot of people did not understand why I was doing it but I had a vision. I’m just a kid with a dream and will not stop pursuing it until it becomes a reality. I hope one day people will see my story and be motivated to pursue whatever dream it is they have.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I work in Atlanta a lot, but I spend most of my time in Carrollton, Ga. I would definitely bring them out there to hang out with me and all my friends. We all get along pretty good and always have a hell of a time when we are all together. We usually hang out at my fraternity house (the Pike house) or at Trevor-John and Hals place. A normal night usually consists of some beers, whatever sports are on, and a lot of jokes to be told. One of my favorite places to eat and drink is Nama, my favorite place to get drinks.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents have always taught me to follow my passion and dreams no matter what. They have been the most supportive people during these past 2 years of me chasing this dream. My good friend/business partner Zach Ross is also a huge part in putting all of this together. He is one of the smartest and creative people I have ever met, we just click so good doing business together. I joined the fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha in fall of 2018, one of the best decisions I have ever made. I consider all of those guys my brothers, we do everything together. All of them have been so supportive of me and I will forever be grateful for it. They also just make life a lot more fun, when we are all together it is just a bunch of good times and laughs.
