We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Angela Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Angela, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is one of my own. “The world will never celebrate the wholeness of who you are as long as you continue to promote the pieces.” This quote is a reminder to anyone who finds themselves focusing on the areas of their lives where they see lack. Too often we give too much energy speaking negativity and minimizing the greatness attached to our gifts. It is not only important to believe that we are whole, we must also commit to consistently working for it and speaking it out loud! If we do not speak of ourselves fully, transparently, and authentically, how can we expect the world to do it?

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally, I wear multiple hats. In addition to being an international best selling author, executive coach, and speaker, in my current role I lead US Diversity and Inclusion, Strategy and Operations for a global pharmaceutical company. I think the thing that separates me from others is my unrelenting consistency, my commitment to executing with excellence and unmatched persistence. I am determined to use every divine gift. The journey has been far from easy, but in each instance there was this unwillingness to focus on the obstacle and stay committed to the outcome. My faith has been a critical part of that commitment. I believe that delay is not denial and no means not yet. I know that there is a purpose that has been divinely assigned to me and I have a responsibility to see it through. I cannot underemphasize the importance of mindset. The things that we focus on, we fuel. I accept that challenge is a part of success, so I am not surprised by it. I anticipate it, prepare for it, learn the lesson, and push through it. The thing that I want the world to know about me is that I really want to see people win and I love to activate people into action! I have a spirit of service, and encouraging others is a big part of my why. This often takes many forms. In 2020, during the pandemic, and I could not encourage others face to face in the traditional sense, so I went live on my Instagram page for 200 consecutive nights just to uplift and motivate others, donating thousands of dollars of coaching hours. I still have the sessions 3 nights a week. We just celebrated the one year anniversary of the live sessions! It is moments like these where our purpose can shift and require that we show up in unprecedented ways. The goal is remain flexible and open to new thinking, new actions, and new opportunities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have a few places that I enjoy in the city. I am usually with my family so the Georgia Aquarium and Atlanta Breakfast Club are favorites. The National Center for Civil and Human Rights and The King Center are must sees.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first shoutout is to God! There is nothing that happens in my life without Him. I am so grateful for God’s favor! Thank you! I have an amazing husband, Dr. Otis Anderson III, and two phenomenal daughters who cheer me on and support anything that I set my mind to achieving. I have a very supportive tribe of powerhouse women! Extremely accomplished and successful in their own right, they never miss an opportunity to pour into me and my vision. We show up for one another, for real. We strategize, dream, encourage and support one another in the most authentic way! It is an absolute blessing to have them. We are not many, but we are mighty! For 25 years, I have been a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I would be remiss if I did not shoutout my incredible Sorors. My journey has been greatly enhanced by intentionally attracting wonderful people and positive energy into my life. Anything that does not protect my peace is not permissible.
