We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Orr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my own business, I wanted to make sure I was providing quality services for my clients. My goal has always been to make each client feel like they were well taken care of when they sat in my chair for hair or makeup services. Providing top of the line services coupled with a genuine care for my clients has always been my goal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love being an artist. It is important to me to not completely change my clients hair or makeup to be overly altering. I like to highlight my clients natural beauty and showcase their best features in their hair and makeup. It excites me the most to hand my client the mirror after I am done with their hair and makeup and see the joy in their eyes.

I have always dreamed about working in the beauty industry. In order to get where I am today, I focused on educating myself on new hair and makeup trends while maintaining natural beauty. I have taken countless classes from other professionals in my field. I completed a Master Cosmetology program and spent hours learning about my craft. Whenever I felt overwhelmed being in my industry, I remember all the clients who walk away happy about their look.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Eat- Fire Street Food & Coco and Moss

Drink- Electric Moon/ Plant Riverside District

Hang out- Star Castle skating ring The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Coming from a Christian background, I believe that God gave me the talent to enhance my clients beauty. It is my job to make sure I become the best version of myself, while continuing to grow in that talent. God drives me to serve others with the gift he gave me.
