We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacobie D. Kelsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacobie D., we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
How / What do I think about risk ….mmm, coming from someone who likes to play it safe 😊 I think risk taking is good, the more you take them, the more you discover who you are and unlock the potential that is within. When people hear the term Risk sometimes there’s a sense of fear attached to but I would like to think of Risk as endless possibilities. Since launching my business in July of 2020, I’ve been blessed with opportunities and connections that is putting on the path to greatness in every are of my life and career. Taking risk has allowed me to grow, learn and make mistakes …repeat.😊
“ Life is inherently risky, there is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is of doing nothing” -Denis Waitley
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
*I’m a 2003 graduate of Lane College in Jackson, TN with Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology. Currently I’m employed at the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University secretary for the College of Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences deans office.
One of the things that I had to overcome while starting my bread baking business, I thought to myself; no one is going to eat it because of the “NEW” trend of healthy eating lifestyle which is great but my bread is simply delicious made with lots love and butter😊. Since the launch, the response has been great!
* My inspiration (s) is being able to to create and recreate my family’s bread recipes and sharing them with the world. Keeping the art of bread baking alive.
There’s enough room for my bread company and I’m going working hard and pushing towards my goal,
Coming from a large family in Tennessee, I learned to cook at a very early age and it quickly became a passion of mine. Since then, I’ve spent years cultivating and creating recipies for delicious homemade breads that will evoke nostalgic memories of your grandma’s kitchen. My mom is an excellent bread baker, I’ve taken some of her bread recipes and added a twist to them. She really enjoys them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is fun, okay let’s see…
For breakfast we would go to Blue Plate, or Another Broken egg
If we’re doing Brunch we would to Commerce’s Kitchen.
Let’s get some delicious BIg John’s BBQ, one of my favorite items is the rooftop fries with the smoked chicken….
Dinner…. let’s a nice drive Guntersville , AL to TopO’River for some good fresh seafood.
We would the night with some eclectic live music we would go the The Camp Hsv, Mars Music Hall or check BigSprings Park for local activities .
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
