We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Isaiah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in the REAL 706: Augusta, GA (and don’t let anybody tell you differently). I moved to Atlanta in April of 2021 and I can honestly say that how I was raised heavily molded me to be able to navigate the bigger city and truly find myself even more. I know what things are for me and what things aren’t, and I feel like that is because I was able to venture out and grasp my own understanding of things, people, and places at a young age. Augusta is nowhere near the size of Atlanta, but through God and my folks, it gave me enough space, people and experience to set the standard and foundation for how I would live the rest of my life. I know that a lot of my everyday thinking and the moves I’ve made artistically stem from my upbringing, and that is a beautiful thing to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an upcoming recording artist, and have been making music in a serious/professional setting for about a year and a half now. It has 100% NOT been easy, but it has been life-changing and it has allowed me to continue feeding my creativity and do what I love, which is make music. When I first started out, I had little to know musical intelligence at all. I just knew that I loved to sing and I knew God gave me this talent for a reason. Now, I am releasing music myself and others genuinely love and I am performing in my first ever arts festival this summer.

I think what sets me apart from the rest of the crowd is my eagerness to learn. I am always trying to get more knowledge about things like music theory and audio engineering and harmonic progression and anything else that helps me take my passion and my craft to newer heights. I’ve learned so far that you have to keep going above all else. “When things go wrong as they some times will…rest if you must but don’t you quit.” is a line from a poem that I hold near and dear to my heart, and it is a constant reminder to never throw in the towel on yourself, because in this day and age it can become easy to doubt yourself and what God intended for you to do in this life. I’ve also learned that through this entire journey, all I want is to be able to touch people with my music. I feel like the art I make is for the heart, and I try to push for it to be a representation of what love (whether it be romantic or platonic) should look like to me. If just a handful of people tell me that my music helps them through their emotions, or just that it made them feel better about something or someone, I know that I am doing 1) what God intended for me and 2) what I set out to do with music in general. That is what I want the story of Brandon Isaiah to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am specifically located in Marietta, so I can really primarily speak for Marietta and parts of downtown Atlanta, but I would 100% say they should check out the Battery, especially during baseball season. They have bars, shopping, games, a couple of restaurants, the whole nine yards. That entire strip is a genuine vibe to me. I would also recommend Atlantic Station for the same vibe. For a nice peaceful time outside I would recommend Piedmont Park or Stone Mountain park. For food, if you don’t find a JJ’s Fish & Chicken or a Wing spot (literally almost any wing spot) to go to, I don’t know why you visited honestly. Those places have taken a LOT more of my money than I’m proud to say.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My first shoutout without a doubt has to go to God. He is the reason for everything that I have and everything I am. My next shoutouts would have to go to my girlfriend and my family, who have done nothing but love and support me in every way possible in my journey. My final shoutouts would have to go to my college mentors like Nehemiah, Chandler, Juwan and Anderson, who inspire me daily to challenge myself and go above and beyond for my dreams. Lastly, I want to shoutout my close friends who constantly encourage me and motivate me to keep going, as well as my frat, the ICE COLD Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated for everything this fraternity has done for me.
