We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The bigger the risk the more I am interested. You see, big things happen when you don’t hold back. In the risk is the reward and you wont know what you can achieve if you doubt or hold back. I never have. I know there’s people out there better looking, smarter , stronger , wiser and possibly more capable. The difference is I dare to risk and do without worrying about failing. I dont take my failures too seriously and that allows me to keep trying , keep pushing and keep risking. Life is about leaps , about daring to be and daring to believe. My risks have brought me to be where I am today. I feel powerful. Mentally , emotionally , physically and financially. I have lost nothing and gained so much more than I ever imagined.

That risks that scares you the most , that’s the one. Take it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business started with me wanting to provide a better life for my family and a better future for my boys. In the process I felt like i had the power to do the same for other families . I hired people and promised them their family would be part of mine and we would grow and be successful together . While doing so , we would make peoples life a little easier , a little lighter a little better. And, so we have. My business is the insurance industry and I am an independent contractor for State Farm. I own , Lisa Torres State Farm. More than being a small business owner , I am a dream chaser and I love to lift and help those that may need me/us at a moment and or time. I pray daily that I find that person tomorrow and everyday after that needs advise , help , guidance and or just to be heard. I find myself tremendously blessed and strong. Blessings and strength I am eager to share everyday. Although there are 19,000 other State Farm agents , I am different. I am different because never in my life have been driven by wages, or bonuses. I go to bed and wake up loving my job, my mission , my purpose. I feel extremely lucky that I get to do what I love for a living . It shows in my work , in my relationships , in my business , in my essence. I do believe that is the secret to our success. We give , we share , we’re patient and kind. One of the things that distinguishes me from other agents within my company and or competition is my involvement and my hands on leadership. I love participating in the day to day of the office and having conversations with new and existing customers. We spend time in the community and give back at every opportunity . I dance in the trenches, I have 15+ years of experience and yet I am only 34. My story is special ,because it’s mine . It’s about a girl that started working at the age of 16 and never let her fearless heart feel unheard. I took risks , leaps and i still do today. I wouldn’t change my journey for a second. The heartaches , sacrifices , challenges , experiences and adventures have all shaped me . I am forever grateful for every soul that allows me to serve them , befriend them & join them in their goals and dreams I can help them achieve. I am Lisa Torres State Farm .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My childhood best friend came to visit a few years back and I remember I wanted her to see the entire state with me. I wanted to share the beauty I saw, in the people , in the city , in the trees, weather and diversity. My favorite part of Atlanta is the diversity . I love to see and meet all kinds of people. I want my kids to grow up enjoying that too. The first place I took my friend to was to watch a Falcons game at the stadium. They played the cowboys and we were ecstatic with energy and smiles. We had a BLAST. We then took her & her family to six flags and became kids again ! We painted our faces and got on every ride atleast 3 times. We talked about that for days. The next morning we woke up visited Egg Harbor Cafe in Sandy Springs ( my favorite pancakes ) from there we visited centennial park and cruised the city at night. Before the weekend ended , we rented a boat and went up to Lake Lanier for a day full of sun , laughs and Margaritas. It’s been a few years and she still says it’s been her most marvelous vacation of all time. To me , it’s all about the pe0ple and the company . All while making the best out of every opportunity to live & be happy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My heartfelt shout out goes to my husband, Cesar Torres. My highschool sweetheart whom left his home state family and friends, only to support me and my dreams. Thank you for lifting my spirits when I felt defeated , for calming the storms I created inside my head. I never gave up because you never let me. Te Amo.
