We had the good fortune of connecting with SHEmeka Maddox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SHEmeka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was my mission to start my own business so that I could spend time with my kids without having to ask for permission to create memories with them. In my marriage, we have always placed a high priority on building a successful life without sacrificing the quality of life. I’ve always been intentional about living a limitless life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Throughout my life, I knew I wanted a career that blurred the lines between work and play. After having my first child, I became frustrated with an imbalanced schedule, which motivated me to start my own business. I believe my approach to coaching sets my program apart from other coaching programs. It is important for me to start with the end in mind. Goals are important, but what is the ultimate goal? As a coach, I empower my clients to align their success and what they do with who they are authentically.

I get excited to help childcare owners achieve success, avoid burnout, and stop sacrificing their health, life, or relationships for their success. In spite of owning and operating a childcare center for 18 years, I knew my success would transcend the walls and community of my program. Investing heavily in training enabled me to teach childcare owners how to achieve success without sacrificing anything. The ultimate goal of my work is to give childcare owners the blueprint for faster results without sacrificing the quality of life.

I found the process of starting the business to be easy. Building a successful brand was challenging. A stroke in 2014 caused by the stress of running a business, being a mother, wife, and an entrepreneur forced me to define what success meant to me. Financially, my life was the best it had ever been, but I was burned out. It was a learning process for me to prioritize my health, relationships, and well-being to enjoy my Signature Brand.

My whole purpose in starting a consulting company was to help other women experience the same joy, freedom, and confidence I experienced from running a successful business. The things I love most about my company is challenging people to THINK differently, SEE things differently, and then DO things differently to bring powerful change to themselves and their organizations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the event that my bestie visited my city, we would begin with the rich history of Atlanta. Even though I was born and raised in Atlanta, today we live in the new Atlanta everything has changed. With age, I’ve learned to appreciate memorable spots and experiencing history come to life at the Atlanta History Center. With countless restaurants and entertainment spots along the belt line, we would stroll for hours through Atlanta. We would definitely explore Georgia’s beautiful camping sites.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I must share that my relationship with God is the foundation of my success. However, I would have to say it is my previous teacher Ms. Maxwell from Stone Mountain High School who contributed to my success. The confidence she instilled in me to pursue my dreams was a result of her seeing my potential and sparking my passion. If I had not come from a supportive family who encouraged me to take chances and be resilient, I wouldn’t be here today.

I am extremely fortunate to also have my husband of 19 years as a wonderful support system. It is rare to have a partner who values investing in you first. My motto is “Live long, Learn long” and I don’t play about investing in myself. Throughout my life, I have had so many incredible mentors who have played a significant role in my development.
