We had the good fortune of connecting with Ciera Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ciera, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
What doesn’t kill you, can only make you stronger. This to me signifies everything about my life story, and also about how I help my clients own their story. Life throws so much but each day you wake up, you get to build your story and grow stronger.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, entering in a field that is not dominated by people who look like you let alone operate like you was originally very intimidating, however thats also what makes me stand out. Recycled Energy is my private practice where I offer, individual therapy session to primary women age 25 and up who struggle with anxiety, depression, identity issues or have challenges prioritizing themselves. I also have Homegirl Meetup Community catered to women from all over who desire to connected and build with likeminded women and also tap into their mental health. In addition to that I do offer speaking and consultation services to business and organization who are looking to add mental health to their enviorments.
As a woman who has battled with all of those things, my personal and professional perspectives allows me to offer a unique approach. I like to bring the “homegirl” vibes to my work. Mental Health can be a very intimidating topic and the stigma associated to it can really make people have mixed feelings, however I set the intention from the beginning that we are in this together, and it does not have to look like a traditional setting. I believe in taking a Beyond the White Couch™ approach which is the mental health version of meeting people where they are.
As a newly licensed therapist, getting to where I am today has been a journey. From completing grad school during the pandemic to failing my licensure exam a few time, I deserve every bit of success that is here and that is on the way. I always say there is nothing in life that you can’t bounce back from, and I stand on that 1000%.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There so much to do and a week just isn’t enough time. I am such a chill person so being out in nature at one of the preserves, tapping into the lounges like Suite ATL or even going out to the Chateau Elan would be high priority for me. I love a good time but I also like to stay low-key.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I really reflect over the last few years of my life and all the changes I have made, my therapist has been pivotal on my journey. I have had a lot of overcoming to do and she has done a really great job helping me navigate some issues and also uncover some of restrictions that were set in my mindset. Freeing myself of that has allowed me to really flourish and tap into who I am today and who I will continue to become.
