We had the good fortune of connecting with Yakol Whitney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yakol, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For me my business was born out of hardship. In 2013 I had a miscarriage and quit my job because it was super stressful. The miscarriage was my wakeup call and I decided that I wanted to figure out a way to generate income from home. I also had a 5 month old baby who I missed during the day and after having the miscarriage I really wanted to be home with him. I started researching ways to generate income from home and if something worked I kept doing it. After a while other people would ask me what I was doing to make money from home, so I started showing them how to find legit remote work and how to create side hustle income. After a while I was like more moms need to know how to generate income from home so about 3 years ago I officially launched my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Work from Anywhere! With Yakol Whitney

Here is what I do. :

I teach stay at home mommies how to secure legit work from home jobs and create side hustle income via courses, coaching and community.
What sets me apart is that I really encourage moms to have a true work life balance and make selfcare a part of their daily life. You can have your dream job and still burn out if you don’t have true work life balance and great self care practices.

I am most excited when one of my clients gets hired for a remote work job.

My progress comes from my faith in God and praying to Him for divine strategies being connected to the right people, and being consistent in my business everyday..
Faith without works is dead. You have to put in the work to get results. My biggest lesson learned is that it is ok to hire people if you need help in your business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So if my friends were visiting, I would take them to The Perfect Note in Hoover, AL. They can relax and listen to smooth R & B and Jazz Music and eat some of the best soul food around. It’s one of my favorite places in the area. We always have a blast when we go.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
OMG Yes! I owe a lot of my success to The Nicole Johnson of B & B Business Services in Birmingham, AL. In my early business days she took me under her wing and taught me so much about business and budgeting. A few years back she invited me to a business luncheon and it literally changed my life. She connected me to a circle of high achieving women who helped me launch and grow my business. My business would not be where it is today if it were not for her.
In addition to that she taught us how to budget properly and we were able to purchase our first home!
