We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Buckingham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The community. Without the community behind Buckingham Fitness there would be no success.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have loved bringing my career as a creative (actor, stuntman, creator) & my career as a business owner (personal trainer & entrepreneur) to life. The way that they have worked together in unison has been really exciting as the majority of my clients for Buckingham Fitness are people I already know in the Film/TV industry. I have worked with actors, writers, directors, casting agents, stunt people, production company owners, crew members, you name it. As someone who has an extensive knowledge of the hours, the travel, & the work that goes into being on set & bringing projects to life that can take 10+ hours per day for weeks to months on end allows me to have the best knowledge for how to train these artists. As we work together, my clients become stronger, more resilient, remove pain in their bodies, & move more efficiently and effectively. The goal of any training program is to make life outside of training easier & that is exactly what I do for my fellow creatives. And at Buckingham Fitness, we look coach from a deep health approach consisting of: Fitness, Nutrition, Mental Health, Sleeping, Lifestyle, & Career. Because at the end of the day every single one of those things matters in your life & how you live it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For me, I’m big into food & would definitely take a friend to Grub Burger Bar off of Briarcliff Rd. or to Farmburger in Dunwoody. The food is amazing, but the environment & the people are even better. The Beltline is a staple in Atlanta to go to at least once while you’re in town to explore Ponce City Market & a plethora of other shops along the way. Skyline Park at the top of PCM is definitely a place to explore as well! But a favorite of ours is Morgan Falls Overlook Park in Sandy Springs (just north of the perimeter). They have bench swings to relax on as you look over the water & kayaking & hiking available, too. And if you’re in need of a gym, join the crew over at Gameday Fitness in Chamblee (where Buckingham Fitness is located) & take a class or two while you’re in town!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family deserves the largest shoutout. They instilled in me from a young age the love of being physically active & being mindful of my health. I can see how beneficial their encouragement was for me & how much it has helped me in staying confident in growing my business as I share my knowledge & experience with my community. I am now able to educate, empower, & elevate others in the same ways that they did for me. I also need to give a huge shoutout to my girlfriend, Kailee Phelps. She has been with me through the building of Buckingham Fitness and navigating both career fields all while venturing through life together. She has been instrumental in the growth & success of both my business & myself, & I’m so thankful to have her as a creative mind to bounce ideas off of, but even more thankful for her as my partner.
