We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Shaw-Ballard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is apart of being a licensed cosmetologist.. You can’t make clients come to you. But you have to just promote yourself on a daily basis with hopes that they will. And if you can get a few clients to come to you then they are able to tell somebody else about you.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well to start my mom taught me how to plait hair at age 3. And I have been doing something with hair every since. I went to Cosmetology School right out of high school . I became pregnant with my first child and stop going. But I later went back in 2010 and I graduated in 2011. It was definitely not easy I uprooted my family and moved to the town that the school was in to be closer to school. So giving up was not an option because doing hair is my passion and I love to make all my clients happy. I’m well rounded with styles I do and I service women, men&kids. I currently work at Philly J Barber & Beauty Salon in Fayetteville Ga. I have always wanted to do hair on ATL and over 20 years later I’m finally here. I didn’t give up and I’m still chasing my dream of owning my own shop in ATL. I want the world to know that the girl from a small town in NC call TROY is in ATL now and she is definitely ready to get her name out there and ready to build a Barber & Beauty Empire…
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be honest I’m still trying to figure it out myself on what’s some good places to go and visit in ATL. But somewhere I have been for brunch that was delicious was Johnny’s Chicken And Waffles. The food there is amazing. Also I had a good time at the VVS Lounge for my Bday weekend.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to recognize my number one fan and supporter. My wife Jasmine Ballard. She is a upcoming barber as well. “Jaee.stylesz” And our goal is to open our own Barber & Beauty Salon in Goregia.
