We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffani Neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffani, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Barlow’s Foods was started from my love of food. I absolutely love to cook and eat. I’m always in the kitchen mixing up things and having friends over for dinners and gatherings. I had an idea and wanted to create a food product. I was having a hard time narrowing down what the exact food product would be.
I believe in making everything from scratch and using the best ingredients when possible. One day I made pancakes for friends and they absolutely enjoyed it. That was sort of like an ahh ahh moment. There was opportunity to make pancake mixes from better ingredients without compromising the overall taste or quality of the final product. Pancake mix is a well-known product so I knew that there would not be the challenge of educating the customer on the product.
Once I decided to start with a pancake mix, I was having difficulty coming up with a name. I wanted a company and brand name that had a meaning, something that was catchy but classic. There was a photo of my grandfather Barlow on my desk, and it clicked to name the company Barlow’s Foods.
My grandfather was very big into farming and agriculture which ties into Barlow’s Foods using better for you ingredients.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Absolutely! I have a strong professional background in corporate sales. I am a big foodie, and I’ve been cooking since I was 8 years old. Cooking started out as a necessity and developed into a passion over time.
I’ve known from an early age that I’d somehow end up in the food industry. The goal for Barlow’s Foods is to become a household staple. The company was started and based in Atlanta Ga, so we are working to be very hyperlocal.
Our products are currently available in and around the city of Atlanta. We are also available outside of the perimeter in one of our largest local retailers at the Buford Highway Farmers Market.
We’ve recently partnered with Kroger Co. for the Kroger Fresh Market pilot which has a been a great experience.
Our belief is that food should be good and better for you without the compromise of taste and we hope that our products are enjoyed for generations to come.
You can find out more about Barlow’s Foods on our website and social media platforms.

Absolutely I love reading, learning and participating in organizations that assist with the entrepreneur’s journey. The E Myth is a classic and one of many books that has encouraged me during the process. Shout out to our creative/graphics team, Atlanta’s The Focus Group has served as a mentor currently and during the start up process. The local farmers market and pop up community, every single customer and my family have all served as support and so many more!
I am so grateful and thankful for all of those who are a part of the journey.
