We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Success to me means living authentically and pursuing what truly matters to me and also achieving goals that I set for myself . With that being said , the habits that have helped me the most would be…

– [ ] praying and reading my word (the Bible. I wouldn’t be able to do anything without God being at the center of it all. He’s the reason I even have a purpose.
– [ ] journaling . Journaling helps me be more self aware and provides me with a space to reflect on my feelings , random thoughts , and experiences making sure I never get overwhelmed . I am also able to write down my goals to remind myself where I am and where I want to be.
– [ ] Going to the gym . Ever since I’ve started working out , my mental health has improved TREMENDOUSLY I’m also able to perform better physically . It also boosts my dopamine levels which increases my energy , improves my mood and boosts my creativity . Because I do hair, I am standing on my feet all day. I have to be present with my client and sometimes my clients are indecisive about what they want so I have to be creative and figure it out for them.
– [ ] having at least one day to do completely nothing. Having a rest day helps me stay humble. a lot of times people associate their self-worth with how much work they get done. Also too, I make better decisions and perform better from a rested place.
At the end of it all I ensure that I’m present in the moment and holding myself accountable .

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I feel that what separates me from others is the personal connection that I make with each and every client that I have, and the way I listen to my clients about exactly what they want with their hair. I am excited about how far I go with my business and what more will come from what I do now as far as other endeavors. How I got to where I am today is a simple story honestly . Mostly through word of mouth. I started doing my own hair , then my friends , and as I got better more and more people started to notice and want their hair done .

Through all the challenges I just had to pray about them and analyze what I was doing . The challenges were things such as time management , me not being used to working so hard and standing up all day, and the lack of patience I used to have . I overcame them by changing my habits and gaining more knowledge on people . I’ve learned to never question my worth and to not take anything personal when it comes to others . We all treat people as well as we treat ourselves . I’ve also learned to always do my best no matter what and that I will attract the right people to me .

I want the world to know that I genuinely do care about people and not even just making them feel beautiful ; but while they’re in my presence I want them to feel heard and seen as well. I will always spread the Gospel as much as I can. I want people to feel God’s love through me and I want to be able to inspire others whether it’s business wise or personal. No matter what happens you have to believe in yourself and have faith because at the end of the day it’s you who’s going to be doing the the work .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If she was visiting I would take her to all my favorite places .

Ponce City Market would honestly have to be my #1 . You can go on the roof and there are so many interactive games to play with friends like golf, basketball, and other carnival/fair like games. It’s also a food hall with my favorite ramen place in there called Yakitori .

Lee + White . It’s another food hall , the drinks at the big bar are amazing and the people who work there are so funny and welcoming.

Billiards pool hall . I love to shoot pool it’s one of my major hobbies .

Fridas Mexican grill . Fridas has the best tacos I’ve ever tasted and is also not too expensive . The drinks are also amazing .

Lastly I’d take my bestie to Cochran mill . It’s a hiking trail that has waterfalls . We’d probably workout for a bit and then meditate and have a bible study at the end of the week .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off all glory goes to Our father God. I would like to thank him for showing me what true love is And always providing for me, protecting me and guiding me in the direction I’m supposed to be going .

I would like to shout out my biggest supporter my mom, I could never have asked for a better mother She has always given me the freedom and the space to be myself and I’ve always had a voice, even at a young age . No matter what she has always been there for me. Good or bad she has also shown me what true unconditional love is. She taught me how to have faith and never doubt what God has for me .

I’d also love to shout out my amazing friends and family who genuinely support me and want to see me become the best version of myself . I’m so grateful to have such amazing people around me who are able to pour into me as I pour into them .
