We had the good fortune of connecting with Tevin Tyler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tevin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had the thought of “I’m my own boss” and Is this something i really want to do. As well as will i be determined to it
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I own a clothing brand called Seven Promises and i have a photography business to “ShotsByTev”. I created those because I had heart surgery In the year of 2015, It caused me not to play sports anymore which then came to conclusions i wanted to become a entrepreneur. It’s been some ups and down but i got to where i’m at today by networking and being determined. My mother stayed on me and told me “Your Never Giving Up And I Don’t Want To Hear You Say I QUIT”. Although it’s been a bumpy road i’m happy to say i’m proud with where i’m at today. Does it stop here? lol no, I’m still going, i’m still working and constantly creating different things to be consistent. During my journey i learned to “Never Give Up” and “Ask For Help If I Need It”. Those are important in life because you can’t get no more without help and by giving up.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My key favorite spots i would take a person/guests/ or visiting family will be Atlantic Station, Downtown Atlanta and Little Five Points. Those are my favorite areas because they have some delicious restraunts downtown along with the other locations. Not just that but i love to shop so that’s when Atlantic Station and Lenox Station will come in handy!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I want to shoutout my mother, Because without her i wouldn’t have the resources and abilities to do what i do now. However she can get on me sometimes but at the end of the day, She’s just showing me what a real “Entrepreneur” Does. Secondly I want to shoutout Hustl-Print because they accepted me into their business program and help and guided me with my business, I’ve learned and gained more knowledge just by being with them within 6 Weeks. Thirdly I want to shoutout my team because without them we wouldn’t be where we are today!
