We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrence Hight, Jr., EMBA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terrence, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As the saying goes, “The greater the risk, the greater the reward…”. I’d add “sometimes.” to the end of that saying. I believe risk is a required crossroad every entrepreneur has to continuously face but it has to be evaluated in context. For me, risk is tied to my morals and the impact a best/worst case scenario will have on the people involved. Ultimately, I’m a high-risk taker and fortunately the rewards have outweighed the downfalls of risks that didn’t yield the best results.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Business and Brand is a hybrid management consultancy and brand marketing firm that specializes in working with healthcare providers and public sector organizations. Our goal is to help companies grow. What sets us apart is our proprietary Operational Branding™ methodology which intentionally aligns our client’s business operations with their brand marketing, resulting in a measurable ROI. I’m most proud of the growth our company has experienced since 2018 and the impact we’re having on healthcare; specifically related to coronavirus testing efforts and telemedicine. I got to where I am today by remaining determined and seeking MANY opportunities. As a 4x startup company founder, I’ve experienced the ups and downs of entrepreneurship for the past 11 years. Persistence mixed with practicality, and a bit of (required) entrepreneurial naivety has led me to partnering with other like-minded entrepreneurs and building a 6-figure firm in just over 12 months. NO part of it was easy! Being a husband and father of 4 presents unprecedented challenges but by prioritizing what really matters and being patient, challenges can be overcome. The biggest lesson I learned along the way is to prioritize what really matters – family. All I want the world to know about me is that my personal goal is to help people become the best version of themselves, because that’s what I try to do for myself on a daily basis, For our brand, I want the world to know that our company believes in the power of the patient/customer/client and by putting them in the forefront of your strategy, great things can happen to your company!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the morning we’d go to Rosie’s Cafe for a good breakfast. I’m always doing business stuff so we’d probably end up in a meeting somewhere in mid-town. For lunch, I’d take them to Fox Brother’s BBQ. This is my favorite spot in Atlanta! We’d then go to the Battery and enjoy the bars! LOL. I like cigars, so we’d end up at The Patio Cigar Lounge by the evening.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Shoutout is dedicated to my wife, Shaela! As an extreme risk taker, it’s helped having her as the voice of truth and reason for the past 13 years and also as the light of encouragement when the risks didn’t yield the best results!
