We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Mackin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanisha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I like to say that I didn’t pursue this career, but it pursued me. I had other plans for my life, but when my husband was killed on our 1 year wedding anniversary, I started writing to heal my pain. My writing turned into where I am today. I found that writing and sharing my story was very therapeutic. After I released several books, I had several people ask me to help them publish their books, so I turned my pain into a profit and purpose. I developed Tanisha Mackin Publishing, LLC to share other peoples stories through writing. Starting December 1st, I am converting my company to a full ghostwriting and publishing company. I feel like everyone has a story they would like to share and if someone doesnt have the time or is unable to put their words together, I am here to assist in the process of creating a masterpiece. I found my passion through writing and publishing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am so excited to announce that as of December 1st, I will be converting my publishing business from a publishing company to a full ghostwriting and publishing company. It was not easy getting to this point in my business. There was a lot of frustration, anger and failures. But I learned to get back up and keep going, especially if this is your passion. I learned that you have to take it all in, the good, the bad and the ugly. Learn from it and move on. I have been building this business for 10 years and I am proud of how my company has grown. My brand came from pain and I turned my pain into profit and purpose. What sets me apart from other is I take time with my clients, get to know them so I can deliver a great product to them. It’s all about communication and customer care.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop will be Slutty Vegan for a great tasting vegan burger. The Trap Museum, a Lounge, the Aquarium, and whatever else they would like to do. I love food, so I will try many restaurants.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor Tieshena Davis for guiding me where I lacked knowledge in the publishing business. She is always one phone call away. The encouragement from my friends and family to keep pushing and accomplish all my goals. Women In The Spotlight GoinGlobal for always supporting my career.
