We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Gilchrist and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There was a point in my life where I was about to give up on taking professional photos. I felt as though I wasn’t good enough and I surely didn’t have the time with being in school. I started giving away and selling my photography equipment and time had passed by without me picking up my expensive camera. Then when my schedule started clearing up, I picked up that expensive camera and started taking pictures for my leisure, enrolled into online photography courses, and met up with friends; creating together. I started enjoying taking pictures again and started taking on client work. Four years later, I have found my niche, balance out my time while in my master’s program to take photos, and I have a photographer apprentice! What does all of this mean? Sometimes taking a pause is needed, it will allow you time to evaluate what it is you’re wanting to do and what is needed to obtain it. For me, I needed to learn how to balance out my time, learn more about my craft, practice, and overall have confidence. So, before giving up, take some time to see why it is you want to give up, what you could do to improve your skills or situation, what would be the benefits of trying again, and understand the difference between giving up or taking a pause.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SHERADIATES Creations is a multifaceted brand that empowers and services female creatives, brands, and entrepreneurs by way of blogging, photography, consulting, and rustic décor with an emphasis on lifestyle and branding! SRCrs was created because of my love of art, wanting to exude confidence, and wanting to encourage other women to be confident as well! Though my talents bloomed at different times, I created a “one-stop-shop” business because I know for myself how frustrating it is trying to find various professionals to work together. SRCrs will be offically launching in 2021 but I can’t wait to help female creatives, brands, and entrepreneurs take their vision to the next level.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, since my bestie blogs with me currently, our itinerary would be brunch at Joy Cafe, site seeing at the Atlanta Museum of Art, and studying for our end of rotation exams, ha!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God for sure has and continues to bless me with everything that I have and do! My parents are the most supportive beings that I know of and I love them for that! To my family and friends, I appreciate your words of encouragement and support; it means more than you all know!
