We had the good fortune of connecting with Johneri‘O Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Johneri‘O, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
A book that has had an impact on me will have to be my book “Making It In Media”. Not trying to come off as arrogant but my book showed me that I am someone, I am great, I am a conqueror, and it motivates me to keep going. That’s what I want to give off to people and by me giving myself that, I feel inspired.
The business helps the community or the world by keeping them inspired and motivated with what’s going on in today’s society. What’s going on in the world today can be hard on individuals and families. My platform gives hope and allow others to see that we are all going through different situations but we can still live out our purpose. We can still inspire.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I love all things media. I love producing, creating, writing, and being drawn in to the arts. As an author, talk show host, and media correspondent I feel what separates me from others is my authentic character and my eagerness and ambition to grow, learn, help, and achieve. Not all for myself but for others as well who may be watching. What I do is never for me, but to always help inspire, empower and motivate others. I am most proud of my drive and success in the media industry “independently” over the last 4 years. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. I started in the media industry in 2016 when I moved to Charlotte NC with about $200 or less in my pockets and no job secured. I remember hiding my car from the insurance company and the car company where I purchased my car from because I didn’t have the funds for months to pay. I also overcame homelessness; sleeping from family members’ couches and vacant rooms time and time again. Through all of that I knew it was going to be worth it and today I still believe my journey is going to be worth it in the end. I’ve learned along the way to trust myself, not to put too much trust in others, to keep God involved in everything, and to never give up. I would like for the world to know that they’re all welcomed to be a part of my platform, to never quit, and that they will achieve whatever they set their minds on.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So this pandemic has made me more so a house person (laughing). But if my friend was visiting I would take my friend to brunch. After brunch we would go site seeing or to the aquarium because I’m very outgoing. Later we would have dinner and watch a nice movie afterwards, possibly play some in-home games.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out GOD for always being there and giving me the strength I never knew I had. Also everyone who has been supporting me and anyone who has encouraged me.
