We had the good fortune of connecting with Syncere Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Syncere, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The reason I decided to pursue an creative career (Acting) is because I was brought up in foster care and I hated everything about it I didn’t want to be bothered and I always wondered why my parents didn’t want me and why I had to be with people I don’t know. Growing up I always struggled with who I was trying to fit in with any and everyone just to seem like I was cool. I was picked on in school didn’t really have a voice for myself. It was then I didn’t want to be me and I found acting where I could be anyone I want and I get to forget who I was for a while. I’ve learned to not care so much what others think and to continue to love myself and love life..

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been acting since I was 18 and I didn’t know the first thing about acting as a matter of fact I was horrible. My cousin chichi b was actually my acting teacher so let’s thank her for my talent. The thing I’m most excited for is my first feature film coming to Amazon prime in the fall. Something that sets me apart from others is I can play any role and I’m not afraid of a challenge which brings me to my most challenging role where I had to play a Schizophrenic and it was difficult for me at first because I knew nothing I had to study film just to get the character down packed which that same film lead me to the best actress award 2014 so I was extremely happy. The acting world is not easy I’ve been told no so many times even had a agent tell me I wasn’t good enough but that didn’t stop me a year later I landed a role on BET hit tv show American Soul. I want the world to look out for my face and mark my words you will remember my name.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I would take my best friend is to Roc South Cuisine it’s one of the best soul food places in Atlanta … We would definitely hit up a few bars I still haven’t been able to explore the city so I don’t have to many places I would go I’m more a go with the flow vs actually planning. We will have fun no matter what.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout-out to the wonderful Miss ChiChi B if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be who I am today. She has helped me with so much in life having to wear multiple hats for me alone. She gave me the opportunity to have my first feature film called My Best Friend. I am more than appreciative of her and I’ll stick with her no matter what. Love you .
