We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Batten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sierra, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always had a passion for business and crunching numbers. In my third year in college for Accounting, I took several business courses. Learning the business aspects was intriguing and interesting to me. I said, I know a lot of small business owners don’t have access to this financial literacy. I started creating Small Business startup packages that gave step by step guide on how to start a business and show longevity for a business to sustain for a fraction of the cost. I offer consultation services with my clients to touch basics, weekly. I offer resumes, cover letter letters, assistance with job applications, Career Portfolio, Notary Public & Interview skill training. Sierra & Company is different from her competition, because her prices are affordable & within each client’s budget.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work ethic sets me apart from others. I stayed up 24 hours building my website. I was determined to have it completed and I wasn’t going to rest until my website was up and functioning properly. I’ve also worked 12 hours on my regular 9 to 5 job, complete my homework assignments, then work on my business completing customer’s orders. I give myself no excuses, but to make it happen. I’m very passionate about my Business and I know one day Sierra & Company will be a well known business with massive profitability. I’ve grown in business by learning & going through the Accounting degree program. All the countless nights I stayed up completing and researching assignments for school, I applied all that knowledge to my own business. Everyday is not easy and some days I want to give up. On the days I want to give up my Business gains sells and new inquiries. I’ve learned on this journey that being an entrepreneur is not easy and it is not for the weak, but anything worth having, is worth working for. I want the world to know that Sierra & Company is a game changer. My services are to help other small business owners get their business to making a profit by teaching them financial literacy for a fraction of the cost. My brand also help clients with budgeting & gaining financial independent. My goal is also provide resources for employees with tools to gain employment & employers with the tools to reduce turnover rates by building a rapport with staff, while enforcing polices and procedures.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in a small city.. So I would still make the best of the trip. We would visit local restaurants such as Cow Tippers, El 1800, and the Peking House. Those are a variety of different restaurants. The racetrack is an attraction to see cars, dirk bikes, and trucks race. Time Out Sports Bar would be for drinks, dancing, and shooting pool. We would have to drive about 2 hours to visit waterparks, theme parks, and beaches.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve always been self motivated & self reliant. When I make up something in my mind that I want to complete a task or project, I try my best to make it happen. My children are my biggest motivation and contributing factor to my success. I want to show them by example that failure is not an option, and as long as you apply yourself & do your best. The sky is the limit. I also have friends that are supportive. I have one friend [Mia] whom always have me together with customs shirts. Another Friend [Akoya] who is always down to go on my business trips no matter how far. Nikia, Dominique, Contessa and most Definitely Pre are sure to keep me laughing. Over all my friends are great and there when I need them most. My family is also supportive and have kept my kids without asking any questions when I attend business trips.
