We had the good fortune of connecting with Shequana Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shequana, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
I disagree with the idea that you should always have a backup plan. To me, having a backup plan means that you started off having doubts that Plan A will work. When you have an idea that you’re passionate about and you’re willing to put in the time, consistency, funds, and energy to make it work:  IT WILL WORK.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Brewing Hearts mission is to heal the mind and body one brew at a time. We embrace love, healing and self-care through tea. Our tea is handcrafted in heart-shaped biodegradable teabags with natural herbs, flowers, roots and spices.

I was raised in a Jamaican household where tea was apart of the daily routine and there was a tea for every mood and body ailment. Feel sad? Tea. Cramps? Tea. Broke a foot? Tea. While living in China, I immeaditaly fell in love with the ambiance and traditions associated with tea. I decided I wanted to share this healing and feeling with the world, with love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One word: BRUNCH. We would brunch til we drop lol. We would have to eat at The Garden Room, Breakfast At Barney’s, Flying Biscuit, Milk & Honey, and Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. We’d spend some time in nature together because there are so many rivers in Georgia I’ve wanted to visit.  Last but not least, we’d go to the Selfie Museum because our IG feed could always use a refresh!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Many people complain about their family and friends not being there for them through their struggles before success. Fortunately, I cannot relate. My closest family and friends have shown me the love and support needed to get me to where I am today. Shoutout to my two sisters for being my first employees, my closest friends for the encouragement, and the strangers that support me and my dreams with their heartwarming feedback and purchases.
