Meet Shena Crawford | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shena Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shena, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important fact behind the success of my brand is community. I don’t look at my customers as just customers, I look at them as family. I even refer to them lovingly as my ABC Family and ABC Baes because I want to grow with them and know about the wins in their life as well. I have a tight knit consumer base that has been with me since Day 1 and that allows us to have this kind of bond that’s hard to get anywhere else so it leads to my customers always returning back to me. They know that when they open their package, they are always going to get a little something extra from me because I want them to know that I appreciate that bond.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One of the biggest things that sets Atlanta Bath Company apart from others , is our customer service. I strongly believe that great customer service is more important than a perfect product. Again, I like for my customers to feel like family so amazing customer service is really important to me when I’m interacting with customers. I’m just lucky enough that we have amazing customer service and amazing products so we are winning in that department.

Outside of our amazing customer service, our products sets us apart as well. From our Blueberry Lemonade Sugar Scrubs to our Peach Cobbler scented soaps and all natural Oatmeal,Milk and Honey soaps, we create products that are a far cry from boring but are still good for your skin. We focus on good ingredients, unique scents then unique designs. That really helps us stand out from the rest.

Starting Atlanta Bath Company wasn’t the hard part, the hard part was staying grounded enough to take care of myself and keep up with orders. Sometimes, we can have so many orders, that we are working 14 hour days, trying to get everything out. That was the biggest challenge. Being grounded enough to get all of the orders out while also trying to take care of myself. I focus heavily on self care days now, I have to. That’s a lesson that I learned very quickly with ABC. Take a day for yourself and rest because if you don’t, it will catch up to you since the body will keep score and you do not want to be on the losing end of that particular scoreboard.

Atlanta Bath Company is truly a business that I love owning because it allows me to express my creative side and make people feel good about their skin and themselves especially during times like now. Everyone needs a self care day whether they can relax in the bathtub for an hour with our bath bombs or take a moment to meditate. Whatever you decide to do, just make sure you are putting yourself first. And if we can be apart of your self care day, we would love that as well! We hope that you will become part of our ABC Family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hopefully she’s visiting when there is a festival going on, such as Jazz Fest or Music Midtown. You have to visit Atlanta during the festivals because it’s so much fun! The nightclubs are endless here but we are certainly heading to the High Museum to checkout the artwork and jazz on a Friday night or The Underground then after we are heading straight to Johnny Hideaways for a full night of dancing. I really love Johnny’s and MJQ. During the weekday we could catch a baseball game or any live sporting event. I’m really into hiking now, so I would probably take her on a light hike up Stone Mountain or if she’s really into the hiking, we could take a day trip to Yonah Mountain.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family deserves all the recognition in the world. Atlanta Bath Company is family operated and without my family I wouldn’t be able to continue this business. My grandmother deserves the biggest shoutout because the business actually started with her. It started with her old school recipe for soap and the flavors and designs of the cakes that she bakes. I just made the recipe more modern and crafted the soaps and sugar scrubs based on her cakes.
