Meet Shatia Thames | Clothing & Print Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shatia Thames and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shatia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to have ownership ! Discovering my passion in designing clothes , and also being that creative artist when it comes to serving my community and eventually throughout the whole world ! I am also a natural leader when it comes down to being determined to make away for my family, I definitely take quick action when it comes down to business! I also became unhappy working for others or making them rich and not living my life from day to day coming home feeling drained and tired. I have had other businesses that have failed and I currently run those businesses as of today and learned from my mistakes and always working with my mentors and actively networking with other people online or within my community! I always tell myself and other people there is never a right time to start a business, if you have a goal or plan just take action and start now or you will just keep on procrastinating or pushing it off!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Thames LLC is a small black owned printing services who offers affordable and quality Custom Apparel & Printing Services worldwide. We offer many different printing services to our customers and help bring your design and ideas to Life! What sets Thames LLC apart from others? We treat our clients like Family not just strangers, I am always easy to reach even though I am behind the scenes working but always willing to communicate with my clients when they have a question or need help with any designs and ideas.
I am very proud of my Company as I am still scaling and growing and soon to open other locations in the States. I would like to mentor kids all around when it comes to Entrepreneurship and branding their future Business just like the opportunity I had when I was a teenager. I just always had that mindset that there is no set cap on my income and all about passive income and coming up with creative ways to make money in my sleep but still offering excellent customer service globally.
How did I get to where I am today professionally? I got here by having “Consistency” I executed a daily routine when I had my 9-5 job and running my business at the same time. After 4:30 pm and on weekends I was on my own time and all about my family and business! I also listened to and watched so many podcast and those were my mentors who gave me free gems to make my business more successful ! No it was not easy I can’t even count on my hands and toes of how much sleep I have lost to make sure I am scaling and growing my business more and coming up with new ideas ! The lessons I have learned along the way is ” Don’t rush a product or an idea out too quickly and learn from others mistakes and take their advice when given!” I want the world to know that anything is possible in life and if I can make it happen so can you…believe in your vision and take action!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriend was visiting in town ….. First I would take them to 2-3 restaurants that I have been too in Atlanta which is Barneys, Toast on Lenox, and Atlanta’s Breakfast club! They are all a nice vibe , and a good brunch spot to hang out, eat and drink and catch up on good times! Secondly, I would take them to Martin Luther King Jr. House , The new black wall street, and if they are into business maybe add in some business network events as well as adding some good night life events in Midtown Atlanta for some good music and drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost God has been my best mentor, supporter and cheerleader through this whole Journey! I can’t thank him enough even on my not so good days I thank him! My Mother has been all in one for me as well, I probably would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for her standing by my side through it all. And Lastly, my College director and any Managers I have worked with who has taught me Leadership within in the retail Industry!
